The May 9 episode of “WWE SmackDown Live” opened with a tense backstage interaction between Damian Priest and LA Knight, who were forced to team up for a tag match that night. With a Fatal Four-Way match looming at Backlash, their partnership was anything but stable. The tension spilled over into the match, and chaos followed the final bell.
Growing Tension Between LA Knight and Damian Priest
During their backstage interaction, Knight questioned Priest’s loyalty, asking whether Priest has got his back. They agreed on a coalition for the tag team match and made their entrances. This tension soon escalated during the match as Priest was reluctant to tag Knight in.

During the match, they both were seen tagging themselves in without the consent of their partner, unlike the sync between their opponents, Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa. Even though the outcomes were in favour of Knight-Priest’s duo, things didn’t end up well.
Post-Match Chaos and Surprise Attack
After the match, as the referee held Knight’s hands up, Priest came barging in. He pushed Knight back with some verbal attacks, to which Knight responded with a punch, starting a fight between the two. Fatu interrupted, laying them both down.
As he was about to leave with his championship, Drew McIntyre appeared, lying him down.

These heated face-offs between these superstars, who are set to face each other in a Fatal-Four way match at Backlash on Saturday, May 10, worsened the whole dynamic. With Knight and Priest going at each other, it is very clear that everyone is for themself in the match.
