Roman Reigns’ WWE Retirement is Coming Sooner Than Expected

Roman Reigns is scheduled to face CM Punk and Seth Rollins in a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 41. But will this be his last match at The Grandest Stage of Them All? The Tribal Chief’s latest interview has got the world buzzing!

Roman Reigns Addresses His WWE Retirement Before WrestleMania 41

Roman Reigns recently had a deep and lengthy conversation with Vanity Fair’s Tom Kludt. They talked about a bunch of topics, one of which was how long the Tribal Chief would continue professional wrestling as a career.

In an article posted on Vanity Fair‘s official website, Kludt revealed that the former Undisputed WWE Champion told him he plans to make a career change soon, probably in the next few years.

Reigns said, “After I finish the contract that I’m in, we probably got another year or two max.”

It was noted in the same interview that Roman Reigns’ current contract expires after WrestleMania 42 in 2026. Considering a year or two max after that takes his retirement timeline to 2027 or 2028, which means he will likely retire even before turning 45!

While the retirement is on the cards, it doesn’t mean he will cut ties with WWE entirely. The fans would see him in the company in some capacity, maybe as a part-time wrestler, much like John Cena.

During his conversation with Kludt, Reigns pointed out that he wants to shift to a profession that would not take a toll on his body. This is a strong indication that he wants to follow in his cousin Rock’s footsteps and enter Hollywood after retirement.

The Brahma Bull kicked off his career in WWE and then transitioned to Hollywood full-time around two decades ago in the mid-2000s. Now Reigns is looking forward to doing the same.

He further added, “Then it’s time to take on a less physical form of entertainment.”

How Will Fans React to Roman Reigns’ Retirement News?

Roman Reigns made his WWE debut at Survivor Series 2012 as part of The Shield. While it took him a while him to establish his supremacy in WWE, he never gave up on putting in the work. He struggled to become a fan favorite and was one of the most criticised superstars in WWE till 2020. But it all changed when he became The Tribal Chief.

Given Reigns’ age and athletic abilities, the fans expect him to be active in the industry for another decade. But the man himself has stated that he’s planning a career shift. Therefore, his retirement news might come as a shock to many people, as they expect him to stay in WWE for a little longer.

In addition, WWE superstars are known to have long careers extending well into their 40s and 50s. Hence, Reigns’ decision may come as a surprise to many. But one has to also consider his battles against Leukemia, which may or may not have played a role in this decision.

There’s no doubt it would break everyone’s heart to see Reigns retire from WWE, but change is the only constant, and Hollywood might just be the change that’s needed. Mind you, the OTC is no stranger to the big screen – he has a cameo in Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw starring his cousin Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Who knows? We may see Reigns debut as a lead in a Dwayne Johnson or Seven Bucks Production film!
