John Cena arrived on the last SmackDown before Backlash to grace the WWE Universe with his presence. However, instead of being grateful, one fan decided to take their shot at him. They threw a beer bottle into the ring as Cena stood inside it, watching the ring announcer introduce him as the greatest of all time.
How Did John Cena Respond To The Incident?
The Last Real Champion was probably not expecting someone to hurl a beer bottle in his direction. As the bottle reached the ring, Cena held up his hand to silence the ring announcer, allowing the WWE Universe to realize what had happened. He then picked up the bottle, looked at it, and then shook his head in disapproval, throwing it out of the ring and raising his title high.

A Moron from the live crowd in Dayton threw an empty beer bottle at John Cena before he could cut a promo.

But Cena wasn’t done. He proceeded to begin his promo and referenced the bottle early into it. The Franchise Player declared that at Backlash, the WWE Universe’s childhoods all die. He then stated that the reason people were reduced to throwing empty beer bottles at him was because they know how important Backlash is. Cena suggested that they were doing everything they could to avoid facing the reality of him defeating Randy Orton at the PLE.
John Cena Verbally Eviscerates Randy Orton On SmackDown
The person who threw the beer bottle at John Cena was probably glad that the one who took the biggest cooking from him on the night was not them, but Orton himself. The Undisputed WWE Champion ran his Backlash opponent down and proceeded to verbally destroy him on SmackDown.
Cena cited hustle, loyalty, and respect, and stated that The Viper was none of those things. He proceeded to mock Orton’s work ethic, his family, and his Legend Killer persona. The 17-time world champion declared that Orton would be killing his own legend at Backlash. He concluded his promo saying that just like his 2006 drug test, The Apex Predator would be a failure.
As Cena raised his title, someone tried to attack him in the ring. However, the champion reversed the attempt and hit an Attitude Adjustment. To everyone’s surprise, that person turned out to be a decoy sent by Orton, who emerged and dropped the former Doctor of Thuganomics with an RKO. The challenger closed out the show by holding up the WWE Championship, sending a clear message to Cena in the process.
Who will walk out of Backlash as the Undisputed WWE Champion? Let us know.
