R-Truth and John Cena have something in common: once upon a time in WWE, they were rappers. The two are scheduled to wrestle a non-title match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
R-Truth Must Drop a Diss Track on John Cena
Whether it is on SmackDown tonight or at Saturday Night’s Main Event itself, Truth should diss Cena. This will add more fuel to their mini-feud. So far, the wrestler-turned-actor has been booked strongly, better than any of the last several years.
Be that as it may, this year is all that is left of Cena’s legendary career. He has already crossed WrestleMania 41, with reports of a Six-Man Tag Team contest being planned for Money in the Bank on June 7.
The Show of Shows was criticized for its main event featuring Cena and Rhodes, but WWE supposedly will keep the feud going. This means they have an opportunity to rectify some areas they fumbled. Ironically, the feud between Cena and Truth came out of nowhere after the Last Real Champion’s match against Randy Orton at Backlash.
After Cena hit Truth with an Attitude Adjustment onto a table during the post-show press conference, the Hollywood star disappeared from WWE TV altogether. Truth using his rap skills to provoke his “childhood hero” could make for a memorable moment.
Truth is a rapper, so this would be a cakewalk for him. Who knows? Maybe Cena will join, and it will become a rap battle. One thing fans can be certain of is that the former United States Champion has a way with his on-screen character. At 53, he remains one of the most entertaining acts in WWE.
Another interesting aspect to this is that the company can make a lot of money if Truth releases the track: social media content creation, streaming platforms, etc.
Is Cena Going to Cheat to Win, Again?
While many would say Truth is comedic relief and nothing more, WWE has made some effort to evoke a sense of intrigue in the narrative.
The truth is, Truth and Cena’s history goes way back to the early Tens. The veteran feuded with Cena over the WWE Championship. However, times have changed. Cena now refers to himself as the “Last Real Champion,” having won the belt from Cody Rhodes on the Grandest Stage of Them All in April.
Whether it was his win over The American Nightmare or retaining the title over Randy Orton at Backlash, Cena has cheated to win. Would Saturday Night’s Main Event follow the pattern?
