Last week on NXT, former AEW star Mariah May arrived at the scene. A chaotic segment involving new NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jane saw various contenders show up, with a brawl breaking out. Just then, the lights turned off, only to later reveal that May was NXT.
May made no secret of her intentions, saying that she is coming for the NXT Women’s title. But there could be a hiccup or two before she gets the championship opportunity. Also, WWE might look to test the waters with May before putting her into the program for the division’s premier title.
With WWE officially renaming May as Blake Monroe and her playing up her ‘glamour’ persona, we take a look at who would make the ideal opponent for Monroe in NXT.
1. Sol Ruca Could Offer a Formidable Challenge to Mariah May (Blake Monroe)
Sol Ruca could play the perfect foil for Monroe in NXT. The North American Women’s Champion could take exception to Monroe overlooking her when it comes to her title aspirations, and this could lead to an exciting feud.
Ruca’s athletic in-ring ability will also offer a major contrast to Monroe’s character, which seems to be more focused on Hollywood flair and what she did initially in AEW.

Neither Monroe nor Ruca is part of next week’s eliminator matches to determine Jane’s next challenger at Evolution 2. This leaves the door open for them to start a rivalry, and it could prove to be a stepping stone for either star before they challenge for the NXT Women’s title.
2. Monroe Can Feud With Jordynne Grace For Her NXT Farewell
Jordynne Grace has been one of the main stars on NXT ever since she signed with WWE. She has challenged for the NXT Women’s Championship in the recent past and remains a formidable name on WWE’s developmental brand.
But a couple of weeks ago, Cory Hays of BodySlam reported that Grace would be moved to the main roster, with SmackDown being her destination. While the move is yet to materialize, this means Grace could be on borrowed time in NXT.
She is slated to compete in the matches to determine the next No. 1 contender for Jane’s title, but Monroe may get in her way.
With Monroe’s arrival on NXT, a scenario where she costs Grace to set up a match isn’t a far-fetched booking decision. This would be the perfect way to bring instant heat on Monroe and have her be the star to send Grace off from NXT.
3. Lola Vice
Lola Vice could provide another ideal opponent for Monroe. Vice last wrestled at Worlds Collide, teaming up with Stephanie Vaquer to take on Dalys and Chik Tormenta. Like Grace, she will also be a part of the matches to set up Jane’s next challenger.
While her face would do her wonders, a feud with Monroe could elevate both stars. She has been associated with NXT since 2023, and she will be ideal to help Monroe transition to WWE’s brand of wrestling.
There is a good chance that both Vice and Monroe come out of this feud looking better than before, so WWE might just pull the trigger on this one.
