Nightmare Unfolds for WWE Champion John Cena on Monday Night Raw as CM Punk Makes Cold-Blooded Proposition

The June 9 episode of Monday Night RAW opened with the Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena addressing the crowd after his defeat in the tag team match at Intuit Dome, California. What was supposed to be a normal segment took an unexpected turn as one of Cena’s biggest rivals of all time, CM Punk, interrupted him in Phoenix, Arizona.

John Cena Calls Out the WWE Universe For Backing a Comedian

John Cena started with taking his frustration out on the audience, calling them out for the “wanting the Truth” chants. “Truth is a lie,” Cena stated. He called them “Armchair Activists” and “Spineless keyboard warriors” for backing a comedian whose biggest accomplishment is mimicking Cena. The champion emphasized on this being his farewell tour, where he should be getting all the love.

Continuing with this, Cena stated, “From R-Truth, to Cody Rhodes, to Randy Orton, I’ve beaten your best.” Just as he said this, “The Best in the World” CM Punk’s music hit.

Punk made his way to the ring, eyeing Cena on his way. He began with Cena’s plans to ruin wrestling and said he’s not there to defend the establishment; he’s there to defend the people. The tension between these two was evident as they stared into each other’s eyes, ready to make the first move.

John Cena vs. CM Punk: One Final Time

Punk said the people chose him to be “The Voice of the Voiceless” back in 2011. Punk called the WWE fans as his boss, unlike Cena, whose boss is The Final Boss. He then said, “If the people want the truth, they’re gonna get Ron Killings.”

He then mentioned what happened at Elimination Chamber 2025, with Seth Rollins stomping him and Cena locking him in the STF. Punk said before he passed out, he heard Cena anguishly saying, “I’m sorry,” knowing what he’s doing is wrong. The chants of “You sold out” were roaring in the arena as Punk pointed this out.

Punk mentioned that the title has corrupted Cena and that he is ready to “become a monster to stop the monster.” He then challenged John Cena for a title match, which he accepted, but at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, on June 28, 2025.

Just as everything was about to settle, Rollins appeared along with his Money in the Bank briefcase, just laughing from the ramp, sending a chilling message.
