Joe Hendry’s name hit new heights after the TNA World Champion was brought up during John Cena’s interview on “The Pat McAfee Show.” After Cena spoke about stars like Dominik Mysterio, Randy Orton, and Logan Paul, the interviewer noted that Hendry wasn’t getting the same level of love.
Cena quickly cleared that up, shutting down any idea of a “sour” relationship with the TNA Champion.
John Cena Praises Joe Hendry’s Mind
Cena said just because he didn’t mention Hendry by name doesn’t mean he has anything against him. He went on to praise the Scottish TNA Champion’s mindset and in-ring ability.
Cena shared that the first time he met Hendry face-to-face was at the Royal Rumble, where they had a brief exchange. Cena said he didn’t have a long moment in the match, but Hendry came up to him before and asked, “How do I make this more?”
He gave him simple advice.
“No, you don’t. You go out there and be yourself and make your moment, your moment.” Cena added, “Trying to make your moment more than is given is selfish. You are a small piece of a greater show.”
And according to Cena, Hendry nailed it. He said Hendry was excellent at the Rumble and admired how he’s making the most of every opportunity on the big stage, turning heads with his performances.
Hendry’s WrestleMania Match With Randy Orton
Cena acknowledged that Hendry’s WrestleMania match against Orton was a huge milestone in his career. He said that after that match, even fans new to wrestling knew who Hendry was.
Cena said Hendry made a lasting impression, showing what he’s capable of in front of the WWE crowd. Facing Orton in his 20th WrestleMania appearance made the moment even bigger. Cena called it a brilliant showcase for Hendry and the recognition he’s earned.
“I think he’s going to be a major player in the years to come. He loves it, and he gets it right every time,” Cena said.
The now 17-time world champion also praised Hendry’s mindset, saying he has the tools needed to succeed on the biggest stage.
Hendry has shown real passion and intelligence in the business. Some might question Cena’s faith in him, but if he believes in Hendry, that means something. Cena respects Hendry’s approach, tactics, and execution.
If anything is clear from this, it’s that Hendry is rising fast — and there’s still plenty more to come.
