WWE’s homegrown talent Jey Uso’s dream run as World Heavyweight Champion, a decade and a half after he signed with the company, came to a crashing halt.
At WrestleMania 41, he submitted Gunther to win the belt. That was in April. He dropped it back to “The Ring General” in June. Gunther will defend his newly won title against Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event XL on July 12. Meanwhile, Uso’s return to the world title picture may be further delayed, as there seems to be a hint at who the Samoans’ next program will be with.
Bronson Reed Puts Jey Uso on Notice Following WWE RAW
On “Monday Night RAW” on June 16, Uso emerged the victor against Reed, Sheamus, and Rusev. Toward the end, there were way too many shenanigans. It seemed Reed had the upper hand following Breakker’s interference. However, LA Knight pushed The Auszilla off the top rope, payback for what Rollins and crew did to him in the last few weeks.
As a result, Uso pinned Reed to advance in the tournament. On X earlier today, Reed put it out there that he is not done with the former World Heavyweight Champion. “I’ll get back to yeet-man. Yeah-man, on my mind,” he wrote.

One week after the Main Event, Uso dropped the world title, and he advanced in the King of the Ring tournament, which is meant to determine the next challenger to the world title. Popular radio host Dave LaGreca chastised Uso’s ejection from the world title picture, as a WWE Hall of Famer simply walked in out of nowhere and jumped the line.
LaGreca couldn’t fathom how Goldberg, who failed to win gold the last three times he challenged for it, got another crack at it. “[Goldberg] has had five matches since 2020, and he lost four of them! He gets a title shot at Saturday Night’s Main Event against Gunther? What? Where is the logic here?”
The host then drew comparisons to John Cena, who turned heel in March 2025 for the first time in his career. This move came after Cena’s repeated failed attempts at winning gold for several years, ultimately forcing the wrestler-turned-actor to make a drastic decision.
“John Cena had to sell his soul [to The Rock] to get a title shot. Goldberg just walks in, says, ‘Who’s next,’ and gets a title shot against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event?” LaGreca emphasised. It remains to be seen when Uso will be back in the hunt for the world title. Who knows? Maybe he wins King of the Ring later this month.
