Former WWE Champion Takes a Dig at The Rock: ‘Can You Smell What We’re Cooking?’

With Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the helm of WWE, releases have been running rampant, which upsets the WWE Universe. “The Machine Gun” Karl Anderson and “The Big LG” Doc Gallows were once again released from WWE, their second time in the past five years.

The Good Brothers made their return to NJPW at the 2025 “Resurgence” event, teaming up with their former Bullet Club partners, the Young Bucks. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson have been a focal point of NJPW for over a decade, even winning the IWGP Tag Team Championships in 2025.

When he re-signed to WWE, Anderson was the current NEVER Openweight Champion. His 206-day reign as champion ended at the WrestleKingdom 17 event, where he was defeated by Tama Tonga, the same man he beat to win the championship at 2022’s Dominion event. Now, back in his home of New Japan Pro Wrestling, Anderson has made his mission clear.

In his May 12 post on social media, Anderson posted a one-minute video package of him and Gallows. The description reads, “We have been called upon by the higher power to save the world from corporate wrestling”, adding, “Do you smell what The Good Brothers are cooking?”

It’s interesting that his opening sentence has certain letters capitalized, but others are not. Putting it together, EHEENALLUOTEHEOWTAEHORRMRORRESG are the letters capitalized. This could be some sort of puzzle, or scramble challenge that spells out a clue. Either way, Anderson’s message to The Rock is loud and clear.

If there’s one thing for certain, it’s that Anderson and Gallows aren’t going anywhere. The former is 45 while the latter is 41, but the two have been around the business too long to give up now after their recent WWE release. Together, they won the RAW Tag Team Championships on two occasions, lasting just a combined 84 days.

The Good Brothers have won tag team championships all around the world and have always kept themselves relevant. With the “Talk N Shop” podcast and even their own cinematic events put on, Anderson and Gallows have a full schedule ahead of them. 2025 has just begun, and Anderson is already talking about a Bullet Club reunion show, one he thinks would sell out Madison Square Garden.

Ring of Honor sold out MSG back in 2019, an event in conjunction with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The Good Brothers were in WWE at the time, therefore not competing on the event. Together, they’ve competed in the biggest arenas and biggest shows in the entire world but have always been hungry for more.

The Bullet Club War Dogs have been their opponents in both matches so far in 2025. The NJPW Resurgence event saw them defeat Clark Connors, David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, and Gedo. The very next night, they made the trip up to Canada for Maple Leaf Wrestling: Northern Rising. In a match that ended in a double count out, Anderson and Gallows took on the War Dogs’ David Finlay and Drilla Moloney.
