In early 2024, Vince McMahon stepped down from his role as TKO Chairman after former employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against him. While the billionaire has left the industry, his name still makes headlines in the wrestling world.
Many fans were shocked to see Vince McMahon leave the company he spent decades to build, four decades to be precise. But recently, an old WWE clip has resurfaced online—and fans are buzzing CM Punk prophesied McMahon’s fall 14 years before it actually happened.
Fans React to a Humorous Segment Between CM Punk and Vince McMahon
Back in 2007, WWE ran a controversial storyline where McMahon was looking for his illegitimate son. Several superstars were considered potential candidates, including Punk. On an episode of ECW in 2007, McMahon confronted Punk to investigate whether he could be the mystery son.
McMahon quickly ruled him out, saying that unlike himself, Punk didn’t drink or do drugs. But Punk’s sharp response left the billionaire stunned with the audience laughing:
“You know, there’s one other thing I don’t do, Vince. I don’t have dirty, unprotected s** with some money-grubbing s***k who eventually files a paternity suit against me, which gets me kicked out of my own house and leaves me nothing but a living, breathing national disgrace.”
At the time, the line was just a quick punch in infamous storyline. But now, with real-life sexual misconduct and trafficking allegations surrounding McMahon, fans are calling Punk’s line “prophetic.” One fan on social media called him “Visionary Punk,” while another wrote, “CM Punk was right about Vince.”

CM Punk on Vince McMahon vs. Triple H’s Creative Regime
Since McMahon’s exit, many people from the wrestling world have shared their opinions. Some wrestling veterans—like Vince Russo—believe the company was better under McMahon. Others think the current era, led by Chief Content Officer Triple H, has been a major improvement.
In February, Punk appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and talked about the creative differences between McMahon and Triple H:
“I think he’s [Triple H] receptive to other people’s ideas, whereas maybe Vince wasn’t. And that’s great. If you run a company, you need somebody who is the yes and no man and [has] the final say.”
Whether fans prefer the old WWE under McMahon or the current direction under Triple H, the debates are ongoing. But there’s no denying that the storytelling in today’s WWE has evolved—with long-term feuds.
One of the biggest storylines right now is the intense rivalry between CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins. The three are set to main event the first night of WrestleMania 41 in a blockbuster Triple Threat Match. It will be interesting to see which superstar emerges victorious in this match.
