Exciting Update on WWE Evolution 2: An All-Women’s PLE

WWE Evolution was a women’s professional wrestling pay-per-view event in 2018. It was the first of its kind and a huge success for the sports entertainment capital.

Since the first edition, many female wrestlers have voiced their desire to be part of its sequel. As of May 2025, it remains the only show to feature solely women’s matches.

WWE Evolution, the All-Women Show’s Sequel, Seemingly Set for July

As per a new report by “PWInsider,” WWE is eyeing the weekend of July 12 for the “Evolution 2” event. The show is currently being planned to emanate from Atlanta. Saturday Night’s Main Event would also be taped that same weekend.

The first show was headlined by Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch in a Last Woman Standing match and the show-closer, Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella. Both these bouts were for the women’s world titles. WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita also worked Evolution in 2018.

Another interesting trivia from the first edition was that Toni Storm competed in a winning effort against IYO SKY. Storm is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where she has become one of the company’s biggest stars. Meanwhile, SKY is now in possession of the Women’s World Championship.

Will WWE Hall of Famers Nikki and Brie Bella Return for Evolution 2?

During a recent episode of their podcast, the “Nikki & Brie Show,” Nikki and Brie Bella disclosed WWE’s secret: Evolution 2 had been in the works.

While interviewing Natalya, the Canadian wrestler told the twins. “You guys are so great at not only elevating yourselves and evolving constantly, but also elevating other women. And I think that in WWE, we are always so open to that.”

“There’s so many women that could learn from you guys and benefit from you guys, not just in how you carry yourselves and what you do in and outside of the ring, but your ability to tell stories. So again, putting it out there,” she said.

This prompted Brie to tease their return for Evolution 2. Nikki then teased a potential WWE return for Paige, “I mean, all the girls, having Nia and Trin (Naomi) like, everyone’s for it. Everyone wants to do it. Hey, Paige is a free agent now. The OGs. I mean, we’re the super OGS and Trin, we’re from day one. But there’s something there still.”

The Bella Twins were also advocating for the return of WWE Total Divas. It remains to be seen how these things play out in the coming months.
