Drew McIntyre Shares Concerning Health Update Before WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest will run it back at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24 inside a Steel Cage. Their WrestleMania clash was a sleeper hit among fans, who regard the Sin City Street Fight as one of the better matches on an overall underwhelming show.

Drew McIntyre Shares Concerning Health Update Before Steel Cage Match

At Backlash, Priest put McIntyre through a series of tables from atop stacked road cases. Concerns mounted as the Scot had supposedly suffered a head injury after the spot. But later WWE CCO Triple H confirmed that the injury was not serious.

In an interview with “Orlando Sentinel,” McIntyre opened up about his health ahead of facing Priest in a WrestleMania rematch this Saturday. “Working hurt is just what happens if you’re an athlete, especially as the years go by,” said the 39-year-old.

“If you’re injured, it is something to take care of. Maybe back in the day, we would have taped it up and gone with it. In the past, I have worked with muscle tears and breaks, which isn’t the most sensible thing, but the way we operate now, you want to last for the long run.”

What is the Core of McIntyre and Priest’s Feud in WWE?

At WrestleMania 40, McIntyre finally won the World Heavyweight Title in front of fans, something he was robbed of four years ago when he won his first and second World Title.

Despite a lengthy reign during the ThunderDome Era, the Scot wanted to score the big one in front of fans. And he finally did it at The Show of Shows in 2024. But it only lasted for a good five minutes.

Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, stealing the belt from McIntyre after the latter was attacked by his bitter rival CM Punk. Throughout the year following the embarrassment, the Scot was humbled by Priest, whether it was a cash-in attempt by the former, or losing in front of his hometown of Scotland.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was when Priest eliminated McIntyre from the Men’s Royal Rumble in January 2025. The two subsequently entered a program during WrestleMania season.

Ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event, McIntyre accused Priest of leeching off his name. He claimed The Punisher always needs someone to get the rub, be it the Judgment Day, Bad Bunny, or Rhea Ripley.

Considering the Scot walked out of WrestleMania in Las Vegas with the win, perhaps it is time Priest returns the favor.
