‘He’s Had His Opportunity at My Expense’ — Drew McIntyre Speaks on His Heated WWE Feud With Damian Priest

Drew McIntyre’s rivalry with Damian Priest was one of the most intense and talked-about storylines in the wrestling world. Recently, the Scottish Warrior opened up about it, ruling out the rumors surrounding their feud.

Drew McIntyre Addresses the Rumors on His Rivalry with Damian Priest

McIntyre and Priest crossed paths multiple times this year, and even took their feud to WrestleMania 41 with a brutal Street Fight. The Scottish Psychopath emerged victorious on the grand stage after delivering a devastating Claymore Kick.

They faced off again at Backlash in a fatal four-way match for the United States Championship, where they once again got in each other’s way, losing the opportunity. Most recently, the two collided in a fierce Steel Cage match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, where the former Judgment Day member walked out as the winner.

McIntyre hasn’t returned to the ring since then. However, during a recent interview on “Gorilla Position,” he addressed the rumors that he was unhappy with the feud. When asked directly, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion said:

“I mean, this is WWE, if you know anything about watching the show, you know things are not always as they seem. If you know anything about being backstage, things change every freaking second.”

Arguably, the most talked-about moment of their rivalry happened last year at WrestleMania XL, when McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to become the World Heavyweight Champion. Moments later, Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase, ending McIntyre’s title reign abruptly. While they’re bitter rivals on-screen, McIntyre, while talking about Priest and his MITB cash-in, shares respect for him.

“To me, this is the most logical story, and Priest is, you know, very good. He’s had his opportunity, at my expense of course, but what I saw, he’s knocked it out of the park. He has worked hard, he’s paid his dues, he deserves an opportunity at the top,” McIntyre said.

Damian Priest Set to Compete in King of the Ring Tournament

The King of the Ring tournament has begun. Sami Zayn became the first one to advance to the semifinals on this week’s RAW after defeating Penta, Dominik Mysterio, and Bron Breakker in a fatal four-way match.

While McIntyre remains absent from WWE TV following his loss at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Priest is set to compete in the tournament. He’ll face Cody Rhodes, Andrade, and Shinsuke Nakamura in the first round.
