Dominik Mysterio will finally step out of his father’s shadow at WrestleMania in 2025. When he arrived at the WWE five years ago, he was plunged into a high-profile storyline with Seth Rollins. This was an extension of Rey Mysterio’s program with The Visionary.
For the first two years of Dominik’s career, he lived in Rey’s shadow. That changed when he turned on the Luchador legend and joined The Judgment Day. However, the father-son duo continued to feud on again, off again, for two more years.
Dominik Mysterio May Have Finally Moved on From WWE Hall of Famer
Although joining The Judgment Day was the best thing to happen to Dominik, the 28-year-old has found himself in a bit of a pickle of late. Finn Bálor has had a domineering presence over the young stalwart as The Prince has been chasing the Intercontinental Championship. Dominik has tried to help Bálor win the belt but has failed.
Meanwhile, the IC Title picture has gotten crowded as the champion, Bron Breakker, has to fend off recently signed WWE superstar Pénta as well. In a sudden turn of events on the Road To WrestleMania 41, all four men were booked in a Fatal Four-Way match with the title on the line. This marks ‘Dirty’ Dom’s first WrestleMania program not to feature Rey Mysterio.
At WrestleMania 39, Rey and Dom locked horns in a singles match. Last year, at the 40th edition of the Showcase of Immortals, they were once again on opposite ends in tag team action, with Andrade and Santos Escobar on each other’s corner, respectively.
Mysterio’s Massive Opportunity for Defining Moment at WrestleMania 41
In the last few weeks, Bron Breakker, Pénta, Finn Bálor, and Dominik Mysterio have all been pitted against each other in some form or fashion. A fan pointed to a potential trail of breadcrumbs WWE has been leaving before its biggest show of the year.
Bálor became the first WWE superstar to pin Pénta a few weeks ago, while Bron Breakker has successfully retained the Intercontinental Championship against Bálor before. More recently, Pénta pinned ‘Dirty’ Dom in a singles match on RAW. Mysterio remains the only man from the lot who has not scored a win over anybody. Perhaps that could change at WrestleMania 41.

Mysterio has been wrestling for WWE for nearly five years now, but he has never won a championship on the main roster. His sole title win happened in October 2023 when he ended Wes Lee’s record-setting NXT North American title reign at 269 days, with help from The Judgment Day.
The intrigue is not only whether he wins the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41 but whose side The Judgment Day will be on — Mysterio or Finn Bálor.
