CM Punk Confronts John Cena on WWE Smackdown, Demands Redemption for Career-Defining Mistake

Twice in a night, John Cena’s theme song hit, and he walked down the ramp to the ring. Cena was in search of R-Truth, aka Ron Killings, now and demanded that him to come out for a fight. As he waited for Killings’s appearance, he demanded, “Truth,” and surprisingly, CM Punk came out and confronted Cena.

CM Punk Cut A Fiery Promo on John Cena

The fans out there in Rupp Arena also demanded, “We Want Truth,” this time willing for Killings to come out and face Cena. However, it was Punk who came out and spoke the ‘truth.’ Punk expresses frustration, saying fans are fed up with being disrespected, yet he wants to give Cena the benefit of the doubt. He urges Cena to honor his own sacrifices and those of the fans by delivering a satisfying conclusion to his career.

Cena dismisses the fans’ importance and questions why Punk bothers with him. Punk retorts that truth offends the weak and claims Cena could never outmatch him at his peak. He accuses Cena of mimicking him while he himself channels a “PG” version of The Cenation Leader. The Best in the World declares he’s always seen through Cena, calls it the truth, and walks away.

Before John Cena Faces CM Punk At Night Of Champions, He Must Go Through R-Truth Again

When John Cena won the Undisputed WWE Championship, who would’ve thought that R-Truth would be facing him TWICE for the title? But it is no lie, R-Truth is getting his rematch for the championship, and that is next week on SmackDown. However, one cannot deny that the last guy who faced Cena one-on-one was Truth, and this guy is Ron Killings.

A chaotic week for R-Truth ended when WWE brought him back. On Sunday, June 1st, Truth announced he would be released soon as his contract is not being renewed. This led to major online backlash as fans wanted to see him more. The next Saturday, WWE brought him back at Money in the Bank, attacking Cena.

Truth, wanting to be known as Killings, now continued the Cena attacks on SmackDown until he was announced to finally face him again. The field is now set for Van Andel arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to witness maybe the last TV match of Cena in 2025.
