Brutal Injury Forces Tommaso Ciampa to Shave His Beard for the First Time in a Decade

Change is the only constant, but in professional wrestling, that applies to some aspects of a wrestler, not all. SmackDown superstar Tommaso Ciampa, one-half of DIY, is one WWE Superstar who can’t be imagined without his signature beard. That was the case until now.

Tommaso Ciampa without beard for the first time in a decade

WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas turned out to be quite memorable for Tommaso Ciampa, but for the wrong and obviously painful reasons. The three-time NXT Champion revealed in an Instagram post he had a fall in the morning, where he ended up busting his chin wide open.

The images Ciampa shared are graphic in nature, and not for the faint hearted. He definitely got stitches and hence, had to shave his long and grey beard. Many WWE fans would argue his beard was truly one of the signature marks of his persona.

It’s not like Ciampa has never wrestled without a beard, but it’s been quite some time since that happened. A decade, to be precise. The Blackheart began sporting a noticeable beard around 2015 when he returned to ROH. Since then, his beard has been a defining feature, growing longer and grower with time.

The former WWE Tag Team Champion has trimmed the beard in his WWE days or dyed it on occasions, but has never ditched his beard entirely. Unfortunately, he ditched it this time owing to the brutal injury.

Will injury force Ciampa out of WWE WrestleMania 41?

Tommaso Ciampa is not scheduled to compete in any match at WrestleMania 41. However, he did appear on WrestleMania SmackDown. He and Johnny Gargano interfered in the title match between The Street Profits and the Motor City Machine Guns.

Ciampa and Gargano didn’t just interfere, they stole and fled with the WWE Tag Team titles. But they didn’t run too far. Backstage, SmackDown General Manager managed the issue with his innovative solution.

Aldis warned Ciampa and Gargano for their actions while taking the titles back from them. He then dropped a bombshell on them as well as Motor City Machine Guns and the champions, Street Profits.

The former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion announced a Triple-Threat TLC match for the titles for next week, i.e., the April 25th (post-WrestleMania) edition of SmackDown. With Tommaso Ciampa’s unfortunate injury, #DIY’s inclusion in the match hangs in the balance. Let’s hope Ciampa is healthy and cleared by WWE medical for what promises to be an iconic match in the making.
