After Goldberg, Another WWE Legend Rumored To Return Next Week

Following a very eventful Money in the Bank PLE, it looks like WWE is snapping out of the usual post-WrestleMania lull. So much has been happening recently, like the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, new title challengers, and returning legends.

That last bit is especially exciting, with the rumors of Goldberg returning to WWE to fight World Heavyweight Champion Gunther sending fans into a frenzy. Now, another legend may appear as soon as next week.

Trish Stratus Joins Goldberg as Potential Returning Legend

According to reports, WWE is planning on bringing WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus back for next week’s episode of SmackDown. Her role on the show is still unclear, but the fact that she is returning suggests something big on the horizon. She could be a key name participating in WWE’s upcoming Evolution PLE.

Stratus competing at Evolution would be sensational. She will be sure to lock up with one of the top names on SmackDown if that is the case. Her short runs since her original retirement have been great, giving us great matches against the likes of Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.

Goldberg is rumored to come back for a retirement match to close the door on his legendary career. The former WWE Women’s Champion may end up going down the same road. Should that be the path she takes, we should get ready to say, “Thank you, Trish!”

Goldberg’s Return and Retirement Match

On October 5 last year, WWE hosted Bad Blood in Atlanta, where Goldberg was present with his family. The event went on without a hitch until World Heavyweight Champion Gunther entered the ring with WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H for the Crown Jewel Championship reveal.

During the segment, The Ring General took aim at the WCW icon, criticizing both his wrestling and his parenting abilities. Provoked by the remarks, Goldberg leapt over the barricade to face off with Gunther, but nothing came of it.

Since that incident, fans have been speculating that Goldberg’s final match will be against a fellow powerhouse in Gunther. These speculations have only escalated since the latter beat Jey Uso to become World Heavyweight Champion for the second time in his career.

There have been reports that the two gladiators were supposed to fight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. However, the veteran was recovering from a stem cell procedure at the time, which delayed those plans. The two are now rumored to go at it at another edition of SNME happening in Atlanta on July 12.
