‘The Excuse Is Bull****’ — 2-Time AEW Champion Shoots on Vince McMahon Snubbing an Important Aspect of Pro Wrestling

Many believe the quality of tag team wrestling has degraded over time, and they accuse WWE and its former chairman, Vince McMahon, of it. Recently, a major AEW star also shared his thoughts on the matter, criticizing the billionaire.

Dax Harwood Slams Vince McMahon for Ruining Tag Team Wrestling

Dax Harwood currently works in AEW with his tag team partner, Cash Wheeler, together known as FTR. He loves tag team wrestling and never holds back from expressing it. The former two-time AEW World Tag Team Champion recently took to X to respond to a tweet about WWE making tag team wrestling “mid-card.”

He recalled how tag team wrestling was the main attraction, but claimed one man degraded it, hinting at McMahon. He also spoke about the low pay he and his partner receive, and ended his post with the hope that tag team wrestling can once again become the most exciting part of wrestling shows.

“This. THIS! For YEARS tag team wrestling was top of the card. Then, one man decided he hated it. Fans eventually accepted it because there was really no other choice. The excuse ‘I have to pay twice as much’ is bullshit. Cash and I worked over 180 matches one year; more than any other wrestler, and we’re still the lowest paid wrestlers on the roster. Even if you doubled our pay, we were the lowest,” Harwood said.

The wrestlers, as well, bought into this belief. “They became selfish and wanted to ‘hit all my moves. Tag team wrestling can be the single most exciting part of the show, with the most story involved. It just takes a little bit of creativity.” Harwood wrote on X.

Tag teams like FTR are indeed trying hard to take tag team wrestling back to the top. Over the past few years, Harwood has been part of many great matches and storylines. And recently, he has demanded a rematch against another top AEW star.

Harwood Demands a Rematch Against Will Ospreay

One of the biggest names in AEW, Will Ospreay, competed in his first singles match three years ago at Road Rager against Harwood. Since then, Ospreay has crossed paths with FTR multiple times. Now, one-half of FTR wants another shot at the Aerial Assassin.

Harwood recently took to X, retweeted a post about his match with Ospreay, and called out AEW President Tony Khan for the delay in their rematch. He also hinted at a possible tag team clash by suggesting that Ospreay find a partner.

“3 years! Where’s the rematch @TonyKhan?? Better yet…find a partner,” Harwood wrote on X.

Whether Harwood gets the rematch or not remains to be seen. However, for now, he needs to stay focused on the upcoming big match at AEW Grand Slam Mexico, where FTR will team up with Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Hechicero to face Bandido, Templario, Atlantis Jr., Adam Cole, Brody King, and Daniel Garcia.
