Triple H has been working as the WWE Chief Content Officer ever since replacing Vince McMahon, but new speculation from Jonathan Coachman has put his future in doubt.
While speaking on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Coachman stated that he expects Triple H to be removed from his role within the next 18 months. He has sources close to the situation that claim tension is rising quickly within the board, citing issues between him and The Rock might not be helping.
While losing Triple H from the role would likely be seen as a major shock and something that would upset fans, it does open the door for another TKO official to fill the gap, but who might that be?
#3. Shawn Michaels
One of the most obvious TKO officials to take on the role would be Shawn Michaels, given that he has experience booking WWE shows. HBK is currently running things in WWE NXT, which can be seen as a training opportunity for the main roster.
This is where Triple H himself cut his teeth, and The Heartbreak Kid is doing an equally good job wth the role right now. Having the knowledge of the wrestlers and how to take on the role would mean he could fit in seamlessly, and that in itself would be beneficial.
However, it is unclear whether Michaels would be willing to take over his best friend’s role if Triple H were fired, as the two men are incredibly close in real life.
#2. Dana White
If TKO wanted to make a left-field decision, then offering the role to Dana White could be an option. He might not have a wrestling background, but there’s no denying he understands the business of combat sports and how to make a big-money match.
He has spent his career building UFC, and he’s done a tremendous job doing so. He knows who the big fighters are and how to promote them to the point where everyone wants to see it, and that’s ultimately what WWE is all about from a base level.
White would likely be a risky choice, simply because he doesn’t understand the business of wrestling as much. But if someone were placed alongside him to fill that gap, then White might do a great job.
#1. The Rock
If TKO wanted to get the most people talking, then The Rock would be the ideal option to replace Triple H. He’s one of the biggest stars in the world, and having him plugged into WWE regularly would certainly get everyone excited.
The Rock is beloved by fans and is someone who has a deep level of respect for the industry, which is ideal for someone in this role. There’s no denying that he cares, and given that he’s been growing his influence in the business over the past few years, it feels like it would be a natural step for him.
While he wouldn’t be around every day due to his movie career, he could easily use Brian Gewirtz to oversee the writing, as he has a history with that. That would allow The Rock to oversee the big picture ideas, which is where he’s at his best.
