3 Pro Wrestling Promotions Vince McMahon Could Buy Outside of WWE

Vince McMahon is the godfather of professional wrestling. His efforts over the last four decades made WWE the top brand in the industry.

But after such a long run, McMahon’s rule ended abruptly. He was forced to step down as TKO Executive Chairman in 2024 after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced from former employee Janel Grant.

Now, amid reports that McMahon attempted to buy BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship), another bold claim is making waves. “Speaking with several executives in combat sports and pro wrestling, the belief is that McMahon will ultimately find himself involved again in professional wrestling,” one source said.

On that note, here are some wrestling companies the former WWE boss could look to buy.

1) Major League Wrestling

While McMahon decided to step down from his TKO commitments following Grant’s lawsuit, the pro wrestling world is well aware of McMahon’s commitment when it comes to the business. He will leverage his company as the superior brand.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) filed an antitrust lawsuit against WWE three years ago. It accused the sports entertainment capital of poaching clients and even interfering in television and streaming deals. If McMahon buys MLW, based on the 79-year-old business mogul’s reputation, the WWE will then be a competitor he would want to outrun.

MLW was founded and owned by Court Bauer, a former WWE writer. Its current heavyweight champion is Matt Riddle, best known for his time at the sports entertainment capital.

2) National Wrestling Alliance

Unlike MLW, which was formed in 2002, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) started in 1948. Carrying such a rich history in the pro wrestling industry, NWA is yet another promotion McMahon could buy and bring to the forefront as a major competitor to WWE.

Moreover, several wrestlers who are there presently were once part of WWE’s roster, including the current NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Thom Latimer.

3) Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling

This brings us to the last piece of the list: D’Amore’s Promotion, Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling (MLP). D’Amore is a former president of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), a promotion with which WWE currently has ties.

This is a new promotion, established in 2024 as a spiritual successor to Maple Leaf Wrestling, a promotion run by Frank Tunney in Toronto during the 1970s and 1980s.

At the end of the day, the pro wrestling industry’s fundamental principle is to make money. And McMahon knows this better than anyone in the business. Any of these promotions could greatly benefit financially from the former WWE CEO and Chairman’s years of expertise.
