Revealing Locker Room Sentiment Backfires on Kim Mulkey After LSU’s ‘Personal’ Rout of Charlotte

LSU coach Kim Mulkey’s No. 5 Tigers demolished the Charlotte 49ers 117-59 on Wednesday evening to stay perfect (4-0) for the season. The game was not without controversy after 49ers star Princess Anderson posted a since-deleted clip on TikTok of the team dancing, accompanied by a caption stating that the Tigers were about to play a competitive team for the first time this season.

Fans Have Mixed Reaction to Kim Mulkey’s Charlotte Confession

During her postgame news conference, the charismatic Mulkey revealed that her team took the taunting by Charlotte personally.

“We had too many technicals,” Kim Mulkey said, “but I wanna give you a little background, OK? They took it real personal with all the stuff that was on social media. And I’ll leave it at that. And so, they were fired up.”

“Those kids send the social media stuff to me. I don’t see any of that unless it’s sent to me and it fired them up, and if I was a player I’d be fired up too.”

The game was littered with fouls, with 49 common fouls and five technical fouls called by the officials.

Fans on X had mixed reactions to Mulkey’s confession about the intense nature of the Tigers’ approach against the 49ers.

“Gotta get fired up to beat Charlotte yikes,” one fan tweeted.

“Charlotte can’t defend a fly, they were swiping down on every drive to the basket. Just undisciplined basketball IMO..” another fan tweeted.

“This is clown work. That’s the real reason she went there. Mulkey allows stupidity. The Karma is going to be epic,” one fan tweeted.

“If you need social media comments to get fired up to play Charlotte,……….you’re weaker than circus lemonade,” one fan tweeted.

“Just create drama for attention!” One fan tweeted.

The Tigers got three technical fouls, all for taunting. Mikaylah Williams got the first one when she exchanged words with Charlotte coach Tomekia Reed after scoring from beyond the arc in the first half. Bella Hines got the next one when she taunted the 49ers’ bench after scoring a 3-pointer.

Finally, Grace Knox got the last one when she stared down a Charlotte player after blocking her shot in the fourth quarter to end a spicy matchup.
