Ex-Gamecock Aliyah Boston Explains Motivation Behind TV Return for 2025–26 Women’s Basketball Season

At 23, Aliyah Boston is already following in the footsteps of Greg Olsen, Draymond Green, and Chiney Ogwumike, who became sports broadcasters while still active as athletes.

Boston made her broadcast debut as a studio analyst for Peacock Studio’s coverage of the Big Ten Conference’s women’s college basketball during the 2023-24 season. She will return to NBC Sports and Peacock this year for a similar role.

Aliyah Boston Explains TV Broadcasting Return

In the latest episode of Post Moves with Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston, the Indiana Fever star confirmed her return to college basketball broadcasting. Her co-host led her into the subject, hinting that Boston would be busy during the WNBA offseason due to her TV duties.

“I’m very excited,” Bostom smiled. “I love broadcasting. It’s just so fun to be able to talk about basketball, and then you get to see everyone that’s going to be coming into the league.”

“It’s like, now is the time to hype them up. Let them know we’re excited for them to come, and that’s what I love about it.”

Front Office Sports reported before the podcast aired that Boston could also serve as a game analyst this time.

“It’s fun to scout the college nowadays,” Parker added after congratulating Boston on her role. “There’s a lot of talent in a lot of different conferences. Obviously, I know we’re partial to the SEC.”

Boston quipped, “Best conference.” Both Parker and Boston’s alma mater schools, the University of South Carolina and the University of Tennessee, are in the Southeastern Conference.

Dawn Staley congratulates Aliyah Boston on WNBA Honor

After carrying an injury-riddled Fever through the WNBA season, averaging a career-best 15.0, Boston was named to the All-WNBA Second Team on Friday.

Her teammate, Kelsey Mitchell, was named to the First team, thus making history as just the second pair in Fever’s history to earn All-WNBA honors. The other two were Tamika Catchings and Katie Douglas.

On Wednesday, Boston was also named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team.

Her former coach, Dawn Staley, shared a heartfelt message on social media, congratulating Boston for the achievement.

“Aliyah, congratulations. You know I know that this was a foregone conclusion of the year that you had,” Staley said.

“You are so deserving of this and more. You know how I feel. That MVP season is loading, and it’s yours. I’m claiming it.”

This comes after fans called out Staley for favoritism toward A’ja Wilson after the Gamecocks’ head coach weighed in on the Aces star’s recent back-and-forth with Boston.
