WNBA GM Admits the ‘Chips Are Stacked’ Against Sedona Prince in the 2025 WNBA Draft Over Viral Allegations

Sedona Prince was everything the TCU Horned Frogs needed this season. A towering presence in the paint, a vocal leader in the locker room, and the engine behind their miraculous 2024-2025 run to the Elite Eight.

But in a heartbreaking game on March 31, she fouled out with just four points in the fourth quarter, unable to stop the Texas Longhorns’ late push. TCU fell 58-47. Their dream ended — but for Prince, the next chapter had only begun.

WNBA GMs Believe It’ll Be Hard for Sedona Prince To Enter League

In a recent ESPN feature by Katie Barnes, it was revealed that Sedona Prince‘s WNBA Draft stock has taken a hit — not because of her performance but due to abuse allegations that have surfaced publicly.

Though many league GMs privately believe Prince should be judged solely on her basketball merits, one executive admitted, “I’d say the chips are stacked against her.”

An altercation between Prince and her ex-girlfriend, also a TCU student, resulted in both women reporting domestic violence to the police; Prince had even asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement, according to the Washington Post. Moreover, this isn’t the only allegation Prince has faced, with three other women coming forward, dating back to her time at Texas. A petition was also submitted to TCU for these allegations to dismiss her.

However, Prince has denied these allegations and has never been charged with a crime. This made some of the GMs question the logic behind not drafting her.

“I am unclear on why this is even a question. Why wouldn’t she be drafted?” said one G, according to ESPN.

On the court, few players have done more for their team — and their program — than Prince has for TCU. Transferring in the 2023-24 season from Oregon, she helped bring the Frogs national relevance. One of her most impressive games of the season came in the Sweet 16 against Notre Dame, where she scored 21 points and had six rebounds.

It’s a tough pill to swallow for a player who has battled through injury, transferred schools twice, and stood up for gender equity in college athletics. With the 2025 WNBA Draft just days away, Prince’s future hangs in the balance.

Prince’s Time With the TCU Horned Frogs

Prince transferred from the University of Oregon to TCU in April 2023, reuniting with coach Mark Campbell and returning to her home state of Texas.

In her debut 2023–24 season with the Horned Frogs, Prince made an immediate impact by averaging 19.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game across 21 starts. In her final season with the Frogs, her performance dipped a little bit as she scored 17.2 points and 9.4 rebounds across 37 starts, though she averaged 3.0 blocks per game, a Big 12 best.

On April 9, Prince announced that she would be entering the 2025 WNBA Draft. Now, it remains to be seen what’s next for this rising star.
