Latest Fever-Sky Showdown Was WNBA’s Third-Most Watched Game of 2025 Despite Caitlin Clark’s Absence

Caitlin Clark remains a crowd-puller, even if she hasn’t played the last four games for the Indiana Fever. The superstar guard has been in the headlines for her immense support and involvement in the team’s plays from the sidelines while recovering from her quad injury.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes star will miss her fifth game in a row when the Fever takes on the Atlanta Dream in an away fixture. While she does miss time on the hardwood, fans seem to be happy just to get a glimpse of her on the sidelines, as evidenced by the latest viewership numbers from the Fever vs. Chicago Sky rematch.

Fever vs. Sky Rematch Garners Impressive Viewership Numbers Despite Caitlin Clark Not Lacing Up

The proof is in the pudding, with the much-anticipated rematch between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky becoming the third-most-watched game of the ongoing season. According to FOS’ Colin Salao, the matchup saw a whopping 1.92 million viewers.

“1.92 million viewers for the Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky game Saturday on CBS, a game Caitlin Clark missed due to injury,” Salao tweeted. It’s the third most-watched WNBA game of 2025, behind the Fever vs. Sky opener (2.7M, ABC) and Fever vs. Liberty (2.2M, CBS).”

Despite Clark’s absence, the Fever notched up a comprehensive 79-52 win over Angel Reese and the Sky to go 2-0 up against Chicago this season. Kelsey Mitchell and Natasha Howard led with 17 and 13 points, while Aliyah Boston chipped in with 11. It was a forgettable contest for the Sky, with Reese grabbing 12 rebounds but only scoring four points.

Clark is expected to lace up for the Fever’s next game against the New York Liberty. Head coach Stephanie White updated the guard’s return timeline.

“I don’t know if cleared is the right word, I mean, she’s ready to start ramping back up,” White said, according to IndyStar. “But it’s completely different when you’re just doing 1-on-1 workouts, and when you’re out there in 5-on-5, getting up and down the floor, moving laterally. So she’s been allowed to do some practicing, not everything. And we’re gonna be smart, and we’re gonna be cautious, and we’re gonna play the long game.”

Indiana had a promising start to their campaign, winning the first game. However, injuries to their guards, Sophie Cunningham and Sydney Colson, saw them sputter before they notched up consecutive wins in their last two games. Cunningham and Caitlin Clark will miss Tuesday’s game against the Dream.

It’s safe to say Clark continues to be a crowd favorite, with fans looking to catch a glimpse of the WNBA superstar. The numbers will surely see another sharp rise when she takes the court.
