Is Paige Bueckers Playing Against The Seattle Storm? Latest On Dallas Wings Superstar’s Status

Paige Bueckers will be a key absence when the Dallas Wings take on the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena. The rookie guard will miss her second straight game after also sitting out against the Chicago Sky.

Bueckers and Tyasha Harris have both been ruled out for the road matchup. The No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft remains in concussion protocol, while Harris continues to deal with a lingering knee injury.

Wings Suffer Paige Bueckers Injury Blow Ahead of Storm Challenge

Heading into a big game, the Wings were dealt another injury blow. According to Wings reporter Joey Mistretta, neither Bueckers nor Harris traveled with the team to Seattle, which confirms they’ll miss the game. Bueckers is expected to be re-evaluated after Tuesday night, June 3.

Bueckers could return Friday, June 5, when the Wings host the Los Angeles Sparks. There is no set timetable for Harris’ return.

The rookie is Dallas’ second-leading scorer, averaging 14.7 points per game. She also leads the team in assists (6.7) and adds 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks in 34 minutes a night. Her absence leaves the Wings without a steady playmaker and shot creator. For now, DiJonai Carrington and Arike Ogunbowale will carry more of the load.

Carrington recently spoke about the team stepping up in Bueckers’ absence. Per Sports Illustrated: “She’s a leader, she’s a calm presence. So everyone has to step up, it’s not gonna be one person who makes up for what she provides for us, offensively and defensively. So it’s gonna be by committee for sure.”

It hasn’t been an ideal start to the season for Dallas. The Wings are tied with the Connecticut Sun for the worst record in the WNBA, with both teams winning just one of their first seven games. Head coach Chris Kochlanes gave a blunt assessment of the team’s late-game struggles, pointing to “togetherness” as the key to closing out tight games.

Right now, the goal is simple: snap the losing streak. While Bueckers’ return will help, the team needs to find consistency and build momentum after a slow start. Every possession matters more now, especially on the road. The Wings must tighten up defensively and execute better in clutch moments to turn things around. Tip-off in Seattle is set for 9:30 p.m. ET.
