Draymond Green Sends 9-Word Message Ripping Angel Reese’s Sky After Blowout Loss to Caitlin Clark-Less Fever

Draymond Green calls out Chicago Sky’s poor play after their blowout loss to the Fever, calling it a bad brand of basketball.

On Saturday, June 7, the Indiana Fever pulled off their most dominant win of the season, and that too without Caitlin Clark on the floor. As the WNBA superstar cheered from the sidelines, the Fever dismantled the Chicago Sky in a 27-point beatdown that left fans stunned and critics talking.

One of those critics was Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who didn’t hold back after watching the game. He summed up what many were thinking about the Sky’s performance with a sharp nine-word post.

Draymond Green Slams Sky’s Play after Brutal Loss

After Fever’s 79-52 win over Angel Reese and Co., Green took to the social media platform Threads with a simple but biting message:

ā€œThe Sky play a very bad brand of basketball.ā€

It was blunt and bold, but honestly, the numbers back it up.

The Sky shot just 32.1% from the field and an ugly 20% from beyond the arc. They had 21 turnovers and only 11 assists. Moreover, not a single player reached double-digit scoring. Even Reese, the face of the team, managed just four points on 2-of-7 shooting.

Reese rolled to the rim off a screen from veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot in one early possession. But her layup attempt was stuffed by Indiana center Aliyah Boston and didn’t even graze the rim. The Sky looked lost, and Green wasn’t the only one who noticed.

Reese ended the night with 12 rebounds and two assists, but her struggles finishing around the rim were a major issue. With no real scoring spark from anyone else, Chicago’s offense never found any rhythm.

By contrast, the Fever moved the ball cleanly and looked energized. They had 20 assists, shot over 45% from the field, and hit 11 of 27 3-pointers. Kelsey Mitchell led the charge with 17 points, and Aari McDonald added 12 off the bench, stepping up again in Clark’s absence.

The Fever have now won back-to-back games without Clark, with McDonald continuing to impress. The former Atlanta Dream guard, picked up by the Fever via hardship exemption, has seamlessly filled the starting guard role – her pace, perimeter defense, and shot creation have kept the offense afloat for the Fever in the absence of Clark.

Tyler Marsh Defends Angel Reese After Ugly Sky Loss

For the Sky, things are going in the opposite direction, as they have lost five of the seven games played this season. Vandersloot’s first-quarter injury during the game against the Fever only made matters worse.

The 15-year WNBA vet went down hard on a drive and had to be helped off the court with a knee issue. Without her floor leadership, the Sky’s ball movement fell apart.

Despite the blowout, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh defended Reese postgame. He told the reporter postgame:

ā€œI don’t think Angel struggled tonight. I think we struggled as a team,ā€ Marsh said. ā€œIt’s not about Angel being better for us; it’s us being better for Angel.ā€

That may be true, but something has to change if the Sky wants to avoid more blowouts like this. Reese is grabbing rebounds, but she needs help offensively, and the team needs an identity. As Green pointed out, they’re playing bad basketball right now, and the league is watching.
