‘This is Regular For Me’ — Lynx Star Courtney Williams Shares Heartfelt Details About Her Father’s Overwhelming Support

Courtney Williams is hard to miss. Her dad, Donald Williams, is even harder to miss. He’s everywhere Williams is. He’s the man grooving to the DJ’s music, no matter the song. He’s the one encouraging the crowd to cheer her team on, and he’s always hyping her up from his courtside seat.

So, when the Minnesota Lynx brought their WNBA-best record into a matchup against the Sparks, Donald once again made headlines.

Courtney Williams Is Used to Her Dad’s Antics

For Williams, her dad helping the crowd break into a wave as the Lynx put on a show wasn’t anything new. She’s grown up with his high energy and seen all his antics since she entered the league. He’s always been on the sidelines, just being her dad.

She wasn’t surprised this time, either. “This is regular for me. He been acting this way all my life. So this is literally normal. I’m just glad people showing him love,” she said after the game.

Courtney scored 18 points to help Minnesota beat the Sparks 82-66 on Saturday, marking the team’s third straight win. She also finished with six assists and four steals, and hit a key pull-up jumper with 4:48 left that pushed the lead to nine.

Naturally, her father was proud. In true Donald Williams fashion, he stole the show, just like he usually does when his daughter is on the floor.

It’s nearly impossible to ignore him, especially now that the father-daughter duo hosts a podcast. It’s one more way they share their bond and energy with the world.

They launched the podcast, “Courtney’s Daddy & Her,” in April. It’s a mix of real-life stories and humor, giving listeners a look into their relationship and how Donald helped shape Williams’ future in their small hometown of Folkston, Georgia.

The podcast idea came to Donald during a massage session in Miami. At the time, Williams was playing in Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 format focused solely on the players. Donald had the idea. Williams was all in. A few weeks later, they booked a studio in Miami, and the podcast was a done deal.
