Caitlin Clark Picks Prestigious Golf Tournament Over WNBA as No. 1 Sporting Event

Caitlin Clark has revealed her favorite sporting event, and it’s not hoops. She’s the face of women’s basketball right now, the all-time NCAA Division I scoring queen, and a budding WNBA superstar.

But when it comes to her favorite sporting event? Clark isn’t picking a basketball court. She’s picking Augusta National. Yeah, that Augusta. The home of the Masters. And it’s not even a close fight.

Clark’s No. 1 Pick Is The Masters

While attending the 2025 Masters for the very first time, Indiana Fever guard Clark sat down with Kira K. Dixon for a quick chat under Augusta’s iconic umbrellas. She gave a surprisingly wholesome reason why the tournament ranks at the top of her sports list.

“I honestly would probably put it No. 1,” Clark said when asked where the Masters ranks among sporting events. “There’s really just nothing like this, and I think honestly the aspect of like not having your phone is so unique.”

You read that right. In a world obsessed with notifications, viral clips, and courtside selfies, Clark’s admiration for the Masters hinges on the very thing it doesn’t allow: cellphones. And in her eyes, that’s what makes it so pure.

“You can tell everybody is so invested and they’re really just there to watch the greatness of the athletes,” she continued. “You’re really just living in the moment.”

That “in-the-moment” energy is a rarity, especially in the digital age. But it’s also what makes the Masters feel like a sacred retreat for athletes and fans alike. And for someone like Clark, who’s been in the national spotlight for over a year straight, it makes sense that a little unplugged serenity would earn top-tier status.

Clark Swings From Iowa Courts to Augusta Greens

Clark may be carving up the hardwood with the Fever now, but her love for sports goes way beyond basketball. Growing up in Iowa, she was a multi-sport athlete: golf, soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball. You name it, she played it. She even starred on her high school soccer team before zoning in on basketball full-time.

Her love for golf clearly never faded. And being at Augusta National for the Masters is just another full-circle moment for the 22-year-old phenom.

But make no mistake about it: Clark’s not trading her sneakers for spikes anytime soon. She’ll be back in Fever gear soon enough, getting set to build on a stellar rookie campaign. Her 2025 WNBA season kicks off May 17 against the Chicago Sky, and let’s just say—tickets won’t last long.

But for now? Clark’s soaking in the Masters. No phones. No distractions. Just golf, peace, and pure greatness.
