Caitlin Clark Sets the Record Straight Over the Fever’s Goal After Massive Roster Upgrades

The Indiana Fever has a fresh sense of purpose going into the 2025 season, and their best player, Caitlin Clark, is showing no signs of backing down from the spotlight.

At a recent media day, Clark made it clear the team was focused on winning a championship. Given that the team had made significant roster upgrades and brought in a new coaching staff, it would not be easy for anyone to question that statement.

Caitlin Clark Declares Championship as the Ultimate Goal

Fresh off her 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year campaign, Caitlin Clark confidently arrived at the Fever’s media day. When asked whether the team had openly set its sights on a championship, Clark didn’t hesitate: “Yeah. Absolutely.” Pressed further on what success looks like for Indiana this season, she didn’t flinch—“Championship. Mhm.”

It was a strikingly assertive tone, a clear evolution from the more measured responses of her rookie year. But after a debut season where she shattered assist records and became the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double, Clark’s emerging leadership feels as natural as her court vision.

The Fever aren’t just relying on Caitlin Clark’s star power—they’ve backed up her championship aspirations with some bold moves. After wrapping up the 2024 season, Indiana made a significant change, parting ways with head coach Christie Sides in October.

Just a few weeks before that, on October 4, they brought in Amber Cox as Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, a move aimed at strengthening the front office with her proven leadership. To round out the coaching staff, they brought back Stephanie White as head coach in November —someone who knows the program well, having led the Fever to the 2015 WNBA Finals.

Then, in free agency, they went all-in, adding six-time All-Star DeWanna Bonner on a one-year deal for 2025 and bringing back Natasha Howard, a three-time champion and former Defensive Player of the Year.

With these leadership upgrades and the addition of seasoned veterans, it’s clear that the Fever are putting everything in place to give Clark—and co-star Aliyah Boston—a real shot at a championship run.

A New Era Fueled by Strategic Partnerships and Leadership

The Fever’s pursuit of a championship is bolstered by an ongoing partnership with Salesforce that began in April 2019 when Salesforce became the team’s official jersey partner.

Since then, the relationship has deepened and evolved beyond being just a branding partner with the team by engaging with Fever avid fans and providing their fans with fully branded “Ultimate Fan Experience.” Through the Salesforce Sales Cloud and Marketing Cloud, the Fever can give fans a uniquely tailored experience as well as post-game surveys for formal feedback.

The Fever has received both financial and cultural support to rebuild. The combination of new leadership, under Amber Cox and possibly Stephanie White, and savvy roster moves by both leaderships sets up the Fever for a strong push for the championship.

Kelly Krauskopf, the team president, has made it clear that the Fever are no longer in a rebuilding phase but are “bold and assertive in the pursuit of our goals,” with the ultimate aim of bringing another WNBA championship to Indiana.

This mentality is reflected in the Fever’s aggressive roster upgrades, including securing veteran players like DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard, and it seems the team is ready to capitalize on Caitlin Clark’s rising star alongside Aliyah Boston’s immense potential.
