Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever recorded their second win of the season. The team bounced back with a gritty 81-76 win against the Atlanta Dream at the State Farm Arena. Earlier, they lost 91-90 against the same outfit.
Clark had a rather quiet evening (by her standards) with just 11 points, four rebounds, and six assists. The Fever were led by Natasha Howard’s 26 points and seven boards, while Kelsey Mitchell propped up 17 points.
Caitlin Clark Has Tough Response for the Fever’s Gritty Win Against Dream
Clark was one of the Fever stars with crisp responses to the win. In their recent post on Instagram, Indy’s social media team panned the cameras toward the players with each of them having their own celebrations to show when walking into the tunnel.
Aliyah Boston had a clear “Fever Dub” for a response, while Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham whooped in delight. Clark called the win “ugly” but was satisfied.
“Found a way to win,” the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year said.

The game was not without drama as things got chippy early on between Clark and Dream guard Rhyne Howard. With seconds left in the first quarter, the duo had to be separated after a brief heated exchange. The aggressive full-court defense from Howard saw the two players go at it, with Clark appearing to say, “I’m not scared of you,” as the Dream players pulled their guard back to avoid a major blow-up.
Howard did fare better than her competition as she notched 24 points, five rebounds, and two assists for the Dream. However, the efforts went in vain as the Fever managed to hold on. The altercation between the two players became just another side story in a drama-filled start to the WNBA season.
The kerfuffle comes days after Clark and Angel Reese’s still-spoken-about fight from their season opener on May 17. The Fever guard gave a hard foul on Reese resulting in a flagrant 1. The Chicago Sky forward was also hit with a technical foul following the outburst.
Making matters worse, the WNBA launched an investigation in the aftermath of reports claiming Reese had hate comments directed at her from fans sitting courtside. Reese commented on the alleged abuse, saying: “Obviously there’s no place in this league for that.”
The Fever return home for their next game against defending champs New York Liberty on May 24 at 1 p.m. ET.
