“Of course, I like to do everything big,” Angel Reese once said, and now she is proving her words.
Reese is already turning heads in the 2025 WNBA preseason, helping the Chicago Sky notch back-to-back wins against the Brazilian national team (89-62) and the Minnesota Lynx (74-69). But while her dominance on the court is making headlines, it’s her latest off-court move that’s making an even bigger impact.
Angel Reese Is Making Big Waves With Los Angeles Lakers Legend
In a powerful collaboration, Reese has teamed up with Los Angeles Lakers legend and billionaire entrepreneur Magic Johnson to launch an initiative aimed at equipping high school seniors with financial knowledge and life-changing skills.
Angel Reese (@Reese10Angel) & @MagicJohnson have launched Wealth Playbook, a financial literacy program for Baltimore high school seniors.

This partnership, made possible through the Angel Reese Foundation, Magic Johnson Foundation and marketing agency Pull Up Neighbor, is already underway.
“The Angel Reese Foundation is dedicated to fostering equity for girls and underrepresented groups through innovative and impactful initiatives.”
“Our main objective is to ensure equal opportunities for all girls in sports, education, financial literacy, and other areas where girls have been historically overlooked,” reads Angel Reese’s foundation’s statement on their site.
At the heart of this campaign is the launch of the Wealth Playbook which is a four-part educational series designed to help high school seniors understand the real-world basics of financial literacy.
The first stop on this journey was St. Frances Academy which is an independent school located in Baltimore. Students who attended the first Wealth Playbook session were introduced to the fundamentals of money management from understanding how to track their spending to realizing the importance of credit scores and learning how to take control of their financial future before stepping into adulthood.
But why start in Baltimore? For Reese, the answer is simple: it is her home. It’s where she grew up, developed her grit in the same school where she averaged 18.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in her senior year Saint Frances Academy. This carved out the path that led her to NCAA stardom and now the professional stage in the WNBA.
With backing from Johnson a sports icon who turned his fame into a billion-dollar business empire, this initiative is more than just symbolic.
Philanthropic Measures by Reese and Johnson
Reese and Johnson have both proven themselves to be icons, not just for their achievements on the court, but for their impact beyond it.
Reese has already begun leaving a strong legacy through charitable efforts. In 2024 her foundation organized a “Back to School Giveback Block Party” which provided essential school supplies—including backpacks, notebooks, and pens—to students in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.
A year earlier, in 2023, Reese donated $12,000 to her high school alma mater, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to the roots that shaped her.
“I wanted to launch my foundation to foster equal opportunities for young women where they have been overlooked,” said Reese.
On the other hand the $1.5 billion worth icon has been making an impact for decades through the Magic Johnson Foundation.
Originally created to fight the stigma around HIV/AIDS and promote awareness, the foundation has since expanded its mission. It now supports underserved urban communities with educational programs, healthcare initiatives, and youth empowerment projects.
To date, it has raised more than $20 million for various causes and contributed nearly $4 million in scholarships, creating real opportunities for marginalized youth.
