Angel Reese Shares Much-Needed Injury Update as Fans Worry About Wrist Issue

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese had fans on edge after suffering a hand injury during her final Unrivaled League game. Given her history with wrist issues, speculation ran wild about the severity of her latest setback.

But Reese wasted no time addressing concerns, delivering a clear and confident message that put worries to rest.

    Reese Shuts Down Injury Concerns

Reese’s defensive dominance in the Unrivaled League helped Rose BC clinch the No. 2 seed and ultimately the championship. But her impressive run was cut short after she injured her hand in the regular-season finale against Vinyl BC on March 10.

She took a hard hit while securing an offensive rebound and immediately grabbed her left wrist—the same one she had surgery on last September. This sent fans into a frenzy, fearing she had re-aggravated the old injury. Having already missed games in her WNBA rookie season due to wrist problems, Reese’s health became a major talking point.

But the Chicago Sky forward wasn’t about to let the rumors get out of control. Taking to Instagram Live, she made things crystal clear:

“My wrist is FINE. Don’t ask again.”

That’s all it took for fans to exhale, knowing that her latest setback wouldn’t derail her preparation for the upcoming WNBA season in May. Given her impact on the court, that’s a huge relief for the Sky, who will be counting on her presence in the paint.

Rose BC Wins Unrivaled Championship Without Reese

Despite Reese’s absence, Rose BC powered through the playoffs to claim the first-ever Unrivaled League championship. Reese, who had been a force all season, leading the league in rebounds (12.1 RPG) and setting a historic 22-point, 21-rebound performance on Feb. 21 against the Lunar Owls, had to watch from the sidelines.

Rose BC took down Laces BC in the semifinals before defeating Vinyl BC 62-54 in the title game. Chelsea Gray stepped up with 18 points and eight assists to win Unrivaled Playoff MVP, while Brittney Sykes sealed the victory with a clutch layup and free throw.

Reese was absent from the championship game but made sure to join in on the celebrations, FaceTiming her teammates as they celebrated their historic win. Though she didn’t get to finish the season on the court, her contributions were undeniable—earning Defensive Player of the Year honors and a spot on the All-Unrivaled Second Team.

Now, with her hand injury confirmed as minor, all eyes turn to May when she returns to action for the Sky in her second WNBA season. The 2024 WNBA All-Star made an immediate impact as a rookie, averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. She also led the league in double-doubles, proving she’s already one of the most dominant rebounders in the WNBA.
