“When Alijah Arenas opened his eyes, the family says, he wrote on a piece of paper that he remembered the smoke from the fiery crash and asked, ‘Did anyone get hurt?'” Charania wrote.
Charania’s earlier update informed that Alijah was intubated after the incident and was eventually weaned off the medically induced coma.
Arenas, the No. 10 prospect in the 2025 class, is committed to USC. He rejected offers from Kansas, Arizona (his father’s alma mater), Kentucky, and other universities before committing to the Trojans. Arenas was a McDonald’s All-American, scoring 11 points in the West team’s 105-92 win in April.
Alijah’s father, Gilbert, was a three-time NBA All-Star. Now, Gilbert is a sports media star with a very popular show called “Gil’s Arena.”
