Aliyah Boston Issues 5-Word Warning to WNBA Rivals As Caitlin Clark Boasts ‘Championship-Winning Team’

If anyone thought the Indiana Fever’s 2024 season was just the beginning, they’re about to get a serious wake-up call. After a year where Caitlin Clark’s arrival sparked a surge in ticket sales, skyrocketing fan engagement and record-breaking viewership, the Fever are hungry for more.

They closed the 2024 regular season with a balanced 20-20 record, clinched a playoff spot but their journey ended in heartbreak after a narrow 87-81 loss to the Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of the playoffs last September.

Now with a steely determination, the Fever are preparing to come back stronger, and Aliyah Boston just sent a direct message to the rest of the WNBA.

Aliyah Boston’s Direct Warning to the Rivals

In a recent video posted by the Indiana Fever on X fans got a glimpse of the team’s mindset heading into the 2025 season. When asked what people need to know about the Indiana Fever, Boston didn’t hesitate. With confidence radiating from her, she delivered a bold, five-word warning to Fever’s rivals.

“That we’re taking over the world,” said Boston in the video.

Boston’s words were not empty hype. The 2023 Rookie of the Year had an impressive sophomore campaign last season, averaging 14.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. Her powerful presence on both ends of the court helped anchor the Fever’s playoff push, providing the interior dominance that balanced Clark’s perimeter firepower.

However Boston wasn’t the only one who exuded that much confidence in the video. There was Clark too who called her squad a “championship-winning team.”

“I think that we play basketball the right way. We love playing in front of our fans. We’re building a championship-winning team. We’re excited about it, we’re excited about all the pieces that we’ve added; a great coaching staff and we’re fired up and working hard.”

“And I think we play basketball the right way, and we give our fans a lot to cheer about. We love our teammates and work really hard,” said Clark in the video.

Last season, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game, leading all rookies and earning an All-Star nod. Her lethal shooting, court vision, and fierce competitiveness made her one of the most electrifying players in the league.

Apart from Boston and Clark, veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell also appeared in the video, adding her voice to the Fever’s growing confidence. Mitchell, who averaged an impressive 19.2 points per game last season, took a moment to explain the current state of the team to the fans.

“I think the one thing that people should know about the Fever is that we’re young, we’re vibrant, we have the personality in which we want to win. We know that we’ve come a long way regarding our culture, and I think for us, we want to beat that team that people know about, that has no filters, no anything.”

“We are who we are and, at the end of the day, we’re going to stick by each other. So look forward to us just kind of always remaining who we are and been doing it together,” added Mitchell in the video.

The video can be said to be a part of the Fever’s newly launched slogan campaign, “Now You Know,” aimed at showcasing the team’s rising confidence and ambition. Introduced after the start of the 2025 training camp, the campaign is more than just a marketing move—it’s a statement.

As the 2025 season approaches, one thing is certain: the Indiana Fever are embracing their moment in the spotlight, and their stars aren’t afraid to set the championship as their explicit goal.

Boston to Have Serious Responsibility This Season

In Game 2 of the playoffs last season, Boston showed just how valuable she can be under pressure. Despite the Indiana Fever’s elimination at the hands of the Connecticut Sun, Boston stood out by scoring 16 points in a tense, high-stakes game.

That performance didn’t go unnoticed. In a recent appearance on “The Good Follow” podcast, Fever head coach Stephanie White highlighted Boston’s ability to deliver under pressure. White stated that because of this strength, she plans to use Boston as a “hub” for the team’s offense and overall play this season.

“We’re going to use her a little bit more like a hub. Right, like a little bit more like a Jokić in how she gets the ball, whether that’s in the trail in a lot of our stuff in the flow or whether that’s on the block.

“I don’t want her to have to work hard one-on-one. I don’t want her to have to just pound and pound and body and dribble in a one-on-one situation,” said White during the podcast.

White now returning to the Fever’s sidelines, previously served as Indiana’s head coach during the 2015-16 season. The Fever will tip off their new season on Saturday, May 17, against the Chicago Sky, with big expectations ahead.
