The Las Vegas Aces may be without A’Ja Wilson on Friday night, as the three-time WNBA MVP is listed as doubtful due to a head injury sustained during Wednesday’s 97-89 defeat to the Los Angeles Sparks.
Her potential absence would cancel a marquee matchup with Dallas Wings rookie and No. 1 draft pick Paige Bueckers, who just returned from a four-game absence caused by a concussion and illness. Bueckers scored 35 points in Wednesday’s 93-80 loss to Phoenix. The Aces, now 4-4, have lost two straight and continue to struggle defensively.
Aces’ Wilson Injured, May Miss Anticipated Matchup With Paige Bueckers
Wilson, the Las Vegas Aces’ three-time WNBA MVP, is listed as doubtful for Friday night’s matchup against the Dallas Wings due to a head injury, according to Underdog NBA. The injury occurred during Wednesday’s 97-89 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, when Sparks forward Dearica Hamby appeared to elbow Wilson, prompting her early exit.

“I know she was bleeding. And I know she couldn’t come back,” Aces head coach Becky Hammon said postgame. Wilson was scheduled to undergo medical evaluation on Thursday to assess the extent of the damage.
Her absence would remove a marquee head-to-head with Dallas rookie Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Wilson is averaging 20.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.6 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game this season, per the Associated Press’ Mark Anderson. She has posted four double-doubles and scored at least 13 points in every appearance this year, including two 30-plus-point games.
Meanwhile, the 1-10 Wings will be missing several key players Friday: Tyasha Harris (knee) and Teaira McCowan (national team duties) are both out. DiJonai Carrington (shoulder) is probable, while Myisha Hines-Allen (knee) is questionable.
The teams last met in preseason play on May 2 at Notre Dame, a symbolic homecoming for Arike Ogunbowale, Jackie Young, and Jewell Loyd. JJ Quinerly paced Dallas with 16 points in that exhibition, while Young led Las Vegas with 28.
A’ja Wilson Debuts Striking “Storm” PE Version of Her Popular Nike A’One Sneaker
Nike’s first signature shoe for Wilson, the A’One, has become an immediate hit, with initial colorways like “Leo Lights” and “A’zure Vibe” selling out quickly. As fans await the next retail drop, Wilson took the court in a new player-exclusive (PE) colorway—dubbed “Storm”—during the Aces’ recent matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks.

This mismatched design features contrasting color bases: one shoe in black, gray, and blue with a lightning motif and yellow Swoosh, while the other reverses the palette with white and black but maintains the same storm-inspired graphics.
The heel tabs alternate black/white combinations, and Wilson’s signature logo appears in bright red on each tongue. Underfoot, the sneakers retain the A’One’s original build—a full-length Cushlon midsole, Phylon carrier, TPU frame, and a tonal rubber outsole.
