Will Jayden Daniels Throw at the 2024 NFL Combine?

Find out if former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels will be throwing at the 2024 NFL Combine, as reports emerge surrounding his participation.

Jayden Daniels has rocketed up draft boards with his Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2023, and fans will be hoping to watch the former LSU Tiger compete at the 2024 NFL Combine.

The future stars of the NFL will make their way through Indianapolis this week, with the quarterback position being the star of the show. However, there have been developments on whether Daniels will participate in on-field activities.

Is Jayden Daniels Participating in Drills at the 2024 NFL Combine?

As one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft, speculation on Daniels’ participation in the 2024 NFL Combine was up in the air. However, on Sunday, Feb. 25, reports started to emerge about whether the former LSU QB would throw in Indianapolis.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Daniels will not be throwing at the 2024 NFL Combine but will be at the event meeting teams.

“Jayden Daniels, one of the NFL Draft’s top QBs, plans to throw at his Pro Day rather than the NFL Combine, sources say. He’ll be in Indy for interviews and meetings, but not work out,” Rapoport reported.

This will no doubt disappoint many fans, hoping to see Daniels put on a show alongside his fellow quarterbacks invited to the NFL Combine.

After a Heisman Trophy-winning season, Daniels had little to gain by throwing at the event. Already considered a potential top-three selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, there isn’t anything else for him to prove.

In 2023, Daniels threw for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Meanwhile, the former LSU QB ran for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns, showcasing his dynamic dual-threat ability.

Daniels is athletically gifted as a runner, and many fans were hoping to see him run the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis.

However, despite not partaking in on-field activities, the big question for Daniels will get some clarity. The former LSU QB will have to weigh in at the NFL Combine, and with his size up for debate, there is intrigue as to what he will weigh in at.

LSU lists Daniels at 6’4” and 210 pounds, but it’s expected that his weight has been inflated. Nicknamed the Slim Reaper, Daniels weighed just 175 pounds in 2019 at Arizona State but has added mass to his developing frame throughout his college career.

Despite putting on weight, Daniels still has an incredibly slender build, which, given his threat as a runner, may cause some durability concerns at the next level.
