Five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Terron Armstead believes that controversial wide receiver Tyreek Hill has begun the process of mending his relationship with the Miami Dolphins. Hill sparked controversy by appearing to take himself out of the team’s final game of the season, before exacerbating things in the media and online.
Armstead, who recently retired from football after 12 seasons, revealed a heart-to-heart he had with Hill following the incident and stated his belief that Hill would remain in Miami.

Tyreek Hill Rebuilding Bridges With Miami
Appearing on an episode of “Up & Adams,” Armstead was asked by host Kay Adams whether he believed that Hill could salvage his relationship with the Dolphins. Adams revealed that Hill had informed her of his intention to make amends with the team and asked Armstead if those plans had been put into action.
“I believe so,” Armstead answered, “I believe he sticks in Miami. And I’m sure he’s started that process.” The retired pro noted Hill’s need to “rebuild the trust of his teammates, the organization, and the city.”
Reflecting on Hill’s actions at the end of the season, Armstead didn’t sugarcoat the situation. He recalled being just as honest in a conversation with Hill following the incident, in which he reminded the receiver of his responsibilities.
“Very bad situation at the end of the season, it was. It was, and Tyreek knew that immediately. As I said, we talked on the bus right after the game, and I was completely honest with him, brutally honest with him. It can’t happen. From a leader, from someone that’s a figure in this league, it shouldn’t exist. We shouldn’t even be having this conversation,” Armstead said.
What Next for Hill?
Hill’s former teammate would like to see the electric receiver in a Dolphins uniform next season but says that the player has work to do.
“He has to show and prove, over and over, that he’s all the way bought in and that he’s willing to do whatever is necessary to help the team win,” Armstead said.

Winning was something the Dolphins struggled with in 2024. Franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa started 11 games last season, completing a league-high 72.9% of his passes. Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2, though, not returning until Week 8. The quarterback also missed the final two games of the season with a hip injury.
With their starter missing, the Dolphins played six games with either Tyler Huntley or Skylar Thompson starting under center. Huntley and Thompson completed 64.15% of passes between them, a significant drop-off. The team went 2-4 with Tagovailoa sidelined, missing out on the playoffs for the first time since Mike McDaniel took over as head coach.
If the quarterback can stay healthy in 2025, he’d no doubt like to still have the explosive Hill to throw to. Armstead has no interest in interfering with the situation, though, declaring Hill’s future an issue between the team and the player himself.
“That’s between Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins,” he said.
Whether Hill is torching cornerbacks for the Dolphins or someone else in 2025, he remains a player who can take an offense to another level. At this stage of his career, it’s clear that Hill’s off-field issues aren’t going anywhere; it remains to be seen whether or not the same can be said for the player himself.
