    Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley left the field after running into a wall of Green Bay Packers late in the second quarter. Barkley signaled for backup running back Kenneth Gainwell to replace him on the field following the hit.

    Here’s the latest on Philadelphia’s star running back following a concerning sequence of events to end the second half.

    Saquon Barkley Injury Update

    Barkley got off to a hot start in his debut for the Eagles, as he scored two touchdowns in the first half. Yet he had a bit of a scare following a hard tackle on a 2-yard gain late in the second quarter.

    Although Gainwell replaced Barkley in the backfield to close out the second half, Barkley was spotted on the sideline with his helmet on.

    Saquon Barkley Returns to Action Following Halftime

    Following a concerning absence to end the first half, Barkley returned to the field for Philadelphia’s opening drive of the second half.

    The Eagles immediately handed the ball to Barkley, quickly dispelling any injury concerns about the star running back. Barkley picked up 3 yards on his first carry of the second half.

    Philadelphia’s offense is back on track after a rough start against the Packers. Barkley will continue to shoulder a heavy workload as he recorded 11 total touches in the first half.

    Given Barkley’s lengthy injury history, it’s worth monitoring his status during the second half. But his return to begin the half is certainly encouraging and should ease concerns.
