Who Are Jayden Daniels’ Parents? Everything You Need To Know About Javon Daniels and Regina Jackson

Meet the parents of Jayden Daniels, one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft, who had a challenging, but successful college career.

Jayden Daniels is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft after a very successful collegiate career at Louisiana State. In 2019, he was the first true freshman to start at quarterback at Arizona State. In 2022, Daniels would transfer to LSU, where he’d eventually become a Heisman Trophy winner and top NFL Draft selection.

Like any young, blossoming athlete, Daniels had a solid support system around him. Let’s get to know his parents.

A Look At Jayden Daniels’ Parents

Daniels was born on Dec. 18, 2000, in California to Javon “Jay” Daniels and Regina Jackson.

Jayden also had a close bond with his grandparents, especially his grandfather, William. Tragically, William passed away from COVID-19 on Jan. 19, 2021. Sadly, just three weeks after William’s passing, Jayden’s grandmother, Betty, also passed away. Amidst his junior spring practices, Jayden openly shared his emotions and traveled away from the team to attend their services.

The California native returned home when Arizona State played UCLA. Daniels wore special cleats to honor his grandparents during that game and immediately embraced his family after a 42-23 victory where he threw for two touchdowns and nearly 300 yards.

Getting To Know Daniels’ Father

Javon Daniels was a college football player himself, playing cornerback for both Washington and Iowa State.

“Dad, you put a football in my hands when I was young,” Daniels said while addressing his family during his Heisman acceptance speech. “You taught me how to play, lead, and be calm no matter the situation.”

Daniels joked that his father wanted him to play cornerback, but he hopes that it all worked out for the best now. He acknowledged that he wouldn’t have won the Heisman without the unwavering support of his father.

Getting To Know Daniels’ Mother

Also during his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech, Daniels referred to Regina Jackson as his “rock.”

Jackson has supported her son, both privately and publicly. She once slammed Arizona State’s football program in a Twitter Spaces upon her son’s transfer to LSU. Additionally, she was alleged to have a role in Arizona State’s recruiting violations, but she denied any wrongdoing, and Daniels was never punished.

Jackson was so nervous during her son’s first high school game that she missed his first touchdown because her eyes were closed. But after that moment, she never took her eyes off the field and always had her son’s best interest at heart.

Does Daniels Have Any Siblings?

Yes, Jayden has a brother named Jordan and a sister named Janae.

After declaring for the NFL Draft, Daniels penned an open thank you to everyone who has supported him during his college career. In it, he specifically thanked his family, including his sister.

“When I was 12, I had the vision of myself playing in the NFL. I could really see myself doing that. I could visualize it in my mind. Deep down, I still feel like that 12-year-old kid. Like, Dang, this is really real. One thing I can tell you is, it takes a village to get in this position. It also takes a lot of love. I just want to thank all of the people who helped me get to this point. I want to thank my family above all. Shoutout to my mom and my dad, my sister, my grandparents, and all of my extended family as well.”
