Who Are Bo Nix’s Parents? Everything You Need To Know About Patrick and Krista Nix

Bo Nix's parents, Krista and Patrick, are very involved in his life, with Patrick coaching his son in high school. Learn more about Bo's family.

Bo Nix is a top quarterback prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Initially born in Arkansas, Nix moved to Alabama and played at Pinson Valley High School, where he accumulated over 12,000 passing yards and 161 touchdowns. As a senior in 2018, Nix won Alabama’s Mr. Football Award and was a four-star recruit.

Initially, Nix played college football at Auburn and was named the starting quarterback for his true freshman season. He was voted the SEC’s 2019 Freshman Player of the Year, finishing his first year with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. He returned to Auburn in 2020 and threw for 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

In 2021, Nix entered the transfer portal, as he was “miserable” playing under head coach Bryan Harsin.

Nix started 27 games for the Oregon Ducks in 2022 and 2023, posting career highs in passing yards and touchdowns. He now enters the 2024 NFL Draft as one of the top quarterbacks available, expected to be drafted within the early rounds.

But behind every promising athlete is a solid support staff, so let’s meet Nix’s parents.

A Look at Bo Nix’s Parents

Nix was born on Feb. 25, 2000, to Patrick and Krista Nix.

Bo’s father, Patrick, was an esteemed college athlete who also played quarterback for the Auburn Tigers.

Get To Know Patrick Nix

In the mid-1990s, Patrick enjoyed two successful seasons as the starting quarterback for Auburn.

In an era where running backs dominated, Patrick was an efficient passer, averaging over 200 passing yards per game. Immediately after graduating, he started his coaching career, landing a job as running backs coach with Jackson State.

He bounced around as a position coach and coordinator with several programs, including the Miami Hurricanes and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Recently, Patrick has been a high school head coach. Most notably, he coached his son, Bo, during his career at Pinson Valley. The duo won multiple high school state championships together, and Patrick currently coaches at Central High School in Alabama.

Get To Know Krista Chapman Nix

While there’s plenty of information on Patrick’s coaching career, there’s not much public information about Krista.

However, she’s known to be a dedicated wife of a coach and mother of an athlete, defending Bo’s performances during his time at Auburn in social media posts on Facebook.

Does Nix Have Any Siblings?

Bo has a younger brother, Caleb, who is currently a safety at Clemson. He also has an adopted brother, Tez Johnson, who was his teammate at Oregon.

When Nix transferred high schools, he met Johnson while throwing with some of his new teammates. Johnson was not as privileged as Nix, who came from a good home. He never went home after school and was frequently in trouble.

Patrick, who was the coach, realized this and extended an offer for Johnson to stay with their family. Johnson was supposed to spend a few days, eat some good meals, and catch up on rest. However, a few days became forever, as Johnson and Bo became brothers, dominating high school football in Alabama before both transferring to Oregon to finish their college careers together.

While Nix will enter the NFL Draft, Johnson is staying at Oregon and is in line to become the No. 1 receiver and a future NFL talent himself.
