The New York Giants need a long-term answer at quarterback. Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston are under contract, but they are little more than short-term solutions after the Giants swung and missed with the Daniel Jones contract extension. They hold the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, but their front office hasn’t publicly said whether or not they will take Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
That doesn’t mean there hasn’t been chatter and rumors swirling around in the NFL rumor mill.

The Giants’ Feelings on Shedeur Sanders Behind Closed Doors
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan spoke on “The Giants Insider Podcast” and revealed what he’s been hearing from inside the team’s organization.
“I heard from somebody that I’m friendly with, was talking to somebody within the Giants, and they were like, ‘You know what, we really don’t love Shedeur Sanders,'” Raanan said.
“And I spoke to someone else and else and, like, ‘Yeah, I heard kind of a similar story from somebody that I know that I trust,’ and I was like, you know, OK, it doesn’t sound to me like they love Shedeur Sanders,” Raanan continued.
But the sentiments regarding Sanders are mixed at best.
“I had people telling me they loved him and then people telling me they didn’t, and then that was before we then went to the owners meetings … and then Joe Schoen starts sort of greasing the skids to maybe not taking a quarterback. And I’m like, oh,” Raanan continued.

Could New York Lean Toward a Top Defender Instead of Shedeur Sanders?
“Based on what I’ve heard the past few weeks, I think they’re gonna go with Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter, whoever is available in that spot,” Raanan said. “Sure, it could all be a smoke screen, but this isn’t somebody from the Giants flat-out coming and telling — that’s not how this process works,” Raanan continued.
To put a point on it, Raanan said, “It’s second and third person passed along, but I have heard, and I know there’s other people that I talked to that have heard, that they’re not really in love with Shedeur Sanders to the point where they think he’s worth the No. 3 overall pick in this draft.”

Sanders’ father, Deion Sanders, has made it clear he hopes his son lands with the Giants, but some executives around the league reportedly see him as nothing more than a fringe starter. However, should the Giants choose a top-notch defensive player third overall, they also hold the 34th overall pick and could grab Sanders should he tumble out of the top 10.
Regardless, the mystery surrounding Sanders’ stock is about to be solved.
