Not a lot of people were giving the Tennessee Titans much of a chance when they faced off against the Arizona Cardinals. Down by as much as 21-3, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Cardinals would walk away with the win.
From that point, it seemed like a miracle was the only thing that could help the Titans. As it turned out, a miracle is exactly what they got in an effort to close the gap.

Titans Record Insane Touchdown Against Cardinals
Chipping away at the lead, Tennessee added nine unanswered points as the scoreboard read 21-12 with 10 minutes remaining in the game. The task was proving difficult as the Titans tried to further add to their total.
With less than five minutes to go, though, their prayer for magic was answered. A 3rd and 2 from the 21-yard line saw first overall pick Cam Ward try to scramble to move the ball ahead.
Unfortunately, a deflection landed the ball directly in the hands of Arizona’s Dadrian Taylor-Demerson. However, as he fell to the ground, the ball popped out. As both teams scrambled, the ball bounced into the end zone, where Tyler Lockett landed on top of it.

Not only did he secure the ball, but he also recorded an impossible-to-explain 0-yard fumble return for a touchdown. This put the Titans within striking distance, and a two-minute drill allowed them to register their first win of the season.
The Titans’ 15-point 4th quarter comeback was their 2nd-largest this century, trailing only a 21-point comeback vs the Giants in 2006. Tennessee is now 2-92 this century when down 15+ in the 4th quarter.
However, the jarring coincidence between the two games goes a step further, as both teams were led by rookie quarterbacks. As a result, all rookie quarterbacks in the 21st century have a 2-308-1 record when trailing by 15 or more points in the final period.
The only exceptions to the norm are Cam Ward today and Vince Young back in 2006. For Ward, though, the win has to feel extra special. After losing his first four games as a starter in the NFL, his comments about the team’s situation were brutal.
It wasn’t pretty on Sunday, either. But through resilience, hard work, and some extremely good luck, the Titans were able to get on the win column for the first time in the 2025 season.
