WATCH: Deion Sanders’ Son, Shilo, Golfs For the First Time and Bonds With New Buccaneers Teammates

Shilo Sanders has found a home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders landed an opportunity in Tampa Bay and is making the most of it. He’s giving it everything he has to earn a roster spot, and he’s already starting to click with his new teammates, on and off the field.

Recently, the group hit the golf course, and it was clear from the first swing that this was Sanders’ first time holding a club.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rookie Shilo Sanders Goes Golfing for the First Time

Sanders joined his teammates for a day on the links, and let’s say, the PGA Tour isn’t calling anytime soon. He didn’t even know where to start when it came to picking a club. His swing looked more like a Little League baseball move than anything you’d see on a fairway.

With a leg kick to load up and a baseball-style uppercut, Sanders hacked at the ball like he was chasing a fastball, not a tee shot. It made for a hilarious clip.

“I never golfed before. I’m just warning y’all right now. I used to play baseball, though,” Sanders said on the tee box.

While his swing left plenty of room for improvement, the result wasn’t as bad as you might expect. In fact, it wasn’t even the worst of the day. One of his teammates took a full hack and missed the ball entirely, digging up a chunk of turf in the process.

The talent wasn’t exactly shining out there, but the vibes were strong. It was a chance to bond, laugh and relax before getting back to business.

Sanders is building chemistry with the team while trying to prove himself to the Buccaneers’ coaching staff. As an undrafted free agent, he isn’t guaranteed anything heading into Week 1. Golfing is just a side note. His real focus is on showing what he can do on the practice field and in meetings.

Tampa Bay’s secondary was one of its weakest links in 2024. It was one of the most inexperienced units in the league and needed a major shake-up. Between draft picks and free agents, the Bucs added four new cornerbacks this offseason. The hope is that those additions will tighten up the coverage.

Sanders sees the opportunity. With a roster spot up for grabs in a young, unproven defensive back group, he’s aiming to carve out a role as a safety.

He’s got a big name to live up to — his father, Deion Sanders, is one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history and has helped guide his football journey. Now, it’s on Shilo to make his own mark. Making the roster would just be the beginning.
