    Who Are the Washington Commanders’ Youngest Active Players? Top 10 Includes Trey Amos and Luke McCaffrey

    The Washington Commanders play host to an impressive list of young playmakers in what has become an incredible turnaround for the franchise over the past 12 months.

    This list of 10 players demonstrates the pipeline for the future with the Commanders franchise. Multiple 2025 draft picks made the list, including first-round selection Josh Conerly Jr. and lockdown cornerback Trey Amos.

    Washington is expecting to continue building momentum around franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels, who had one of the most impressive rookie seasons of any QB in NFL history in 2024.

    Top 10 Youngest Active Players on the Washington Commanders Roster

    1) Josh Conerly Jr., Offensive Tackle | Age 21

    The Washington Commanders’ 2025 first-round draft pick, Josh Conerly Jr., is the youngest player on the current roster. At just 21 years old, Conerly Jr. already has two years of experience as a starting left tackle.

    The Oregon product only allowed one sack in 511 pass coverage snaps in college, while featuring on arguably the best offensive line in the country.

    2) Jer’Zhan Newton, Defensive Tackle | Age 22

    The Washington Commanders selected Jer’Zhan Newton in the early second round of the 2024 NFL draft, while many had a first-round grade on him.

    The defensive tackle was a consistent starter by Week 7 of his rookie season and is expected to be a cornerstone piece on Dan Quinn’s defensive line for years to come.

    3) Ben Sinnott, Tight End | Age 22

    The Commanders also drafted Ben Sinnott in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft. The Kansas State Wildcats product caught 48 passes for 669 yards and six touchdowns in his final year of college.

    4) Trey Amos, Cornerback | Age 23

    Washington’s second-round draft pick in 2025 is expected to play opposite Marshon Lattimore in a new-look secondary. Amos is a talented playmaker with the ball in the air, with one of the most productive seasons a cornerback has ever had at Ole Miss in 2024.

    5) Jaylin Lane, Wide Receiver | Age 23

    Rookie receiver Jaylin Lane will be hoping to make an immediate impact as a pass catcher for Jayden Daniels in 2025. In his two seasons at Virginia Tech, Lane spent 87% of his snaps in the slot and could be a great rotational pass catcher early in his career.

    6) Ben Nikkel, Safety | Age 23

    Safety Ben Nikkel was a former college walk-on who made a name for himself at Iowa State in 2023. He signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Commanders in 2024.

    7) Tyler Owens, Safety | Age 23

    Tyler Owens’ best college season came in his fifth year, starting eight games for the Red Raiders. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Commanders in 2024.

    8) Michael Wiley, Running Back | Age 23

    Running back Michael Wiley spent five college seasons at the University of Arizona, where he totaled 1,695 career rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He was an undrafted free agent signing in Washington in 2024.

    9) Luke McCaffrey, Wide Receiver, Age 24

    Luke McCaffrey comes from one of the NFL’s most impressive bloodlines and saw his first action in the league in 2024. He caught 18 passes for 168 receiving yards and is still chasing his first NFL touchdown.

    10) Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Running Back | Age 24

    Jacory Croskey-Merritt was stripped of his college eligibility in 2024, with a complex situation over his freshman year at Alabama State. He only featured in one game at Arizona, but he has an opportunity to make a real impact for the Commanders as a backup running back.
