The Minnesota Vikings really need all hands on deck right now as the team enters Week 10 of the 2025 NFL season, and that includes running back Aaron Jones Sr.
Jones, in his second season with the Vikings after some stellar play with the Green Bay Packers, is a bit dinged up right now. His status for the Vikings is still up in the air.
What’s The Latest On Vikings RB Aaron Jones Sr.?
The Vikings offered an update on Jones’ status after their practice on Friday.
According to a post on X, Jones, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury, is listed as questionable along with defensive back Theo Jackson. But Vikings cornerback Jeff Okudah and tight end Josh Oliver have been ruled out.
Jones was asked how he was feeling by ESPN Vikings reporter Kevin Seifert on Friday and offered a pretty frank comment. “I do feel good. Continue to take it each day,” Jones said. “I still have two days, so I feel like I’ll be in a good spot.” Jones was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday, Seifert reported.
#UPDATE: Jones is active for the Week 10 matchup against the Ravens.
According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Vikings have a 67.8 Offense Impact Score and grade out at a D+. The Vikings have been running their offense behind backup quarterback Carson Wentz a lot this season. Now that Wentz is out for the season due to an injury to his non-throwing left shoulder, JJ McCarthy is back behind center for the team.
Jones doesn’t even rank in the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics because of the time he has missed due to injuries. Who does? Jordan Mason, who has a 75.6 RB Impact Score and grades out with a C.
In his nine-year career after playing for Texas-El Paso in college football, Jones played his first seven seasons for the Packers. In four games this season, Jones has 27 carries for 139 yards and five touchdowns. Jones has four 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his NFL career, including 1,138 yards for Minnesota in the 2024 NFL season.
Minnesota, 4-4 this season, will host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. If Jones can get back into the Vikings’ backfield, that will give McCarthy much-needed support as a running back. Look for Jones to do all he can to get into Sunday’s game for Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.
