UFC 316 Bonuses and Aftermath: Merab Dvalishvili’s BW Record, Kayla Harrison’s Historic Feat, $6.5M Gate, and More

UFC 316 is now in the books and the card delivered some very impressive and memorable moments.

The event was held on June 7 and the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. served as the venue.

Merab Dvalishvili and Kayla Harrison Emerged As the Big Winners at UFC 316

The gate revenue for UFC 316 turned out to be $6,501,177 and the event was attended by 17,343 people.

The main event featured a title clash between Sean O’Malley and champion Merab Dvalishvili. The fight was a rematch as their first encounter at UFC 306 ended with a unanimous decision victory for “The Machine”.

The outcome in the second fight remained similar as Dvalishvili submitted O’Malley in the third round to successfully defend his title. With the victory, the Georgian extended his winning streak to 13-0, which comes out to be the fourth-longest streak in the promotion.

The fight also marked Dvalishvili’s first submission win in the multi-billion dollar promotion. He was awarded a “Performance of the Night” bonus worth $50,000 for his efforts.

In the co-main event, Kayla Harrison defeated Julianna Peña via a kimura lock in the seond round the capture the bantamweight title. With the victory, Harrison became the 7th undisputed women’s bantamweight champion in the promotion.

She is now also the first female Olympic gold medal winner to win a UFC title, second overall after Henry Cejudo. Harrison was also named among the winners of the “Performance of the Night” bonus worth $50,000.

Mario Bautista spoiled Patchy Mix’s UFC debut and defeated him comfortably via unanimous decision. After the contest, he did not do a post-fight Octagon interview with Joe Rogan.

Bautista landed 173 significant strikes in the contest, the fourth-most ever landed by a 135-pounder in a three-round bout.

With the win, Bautista is now riding an eight-fight winning streak, the third-longest in the promotion’s bantamweight history.

Joshua Van and Bruno Gustavo da Silva locked horns in a flyweight bout in the prelims of the card. Van outclassed his opponent and scored a third-round knockout. “The Fearless” landed 125 significant strikes in the fight, tying him with Brandon Moreno for the most flyweight performances (5) with 100+ significant strikes.

Kevin Holland took on Vicente Luque on the main card of UFC 316 and submitted him with a brabo choke in the second round. The impressive performance earned him a UFC bonus worht $50,000.

In the prelims of the event, Yoo Joo-sang and Jeka Saragih squared off in a featherweight bout. Joo-sang made quick work of his opponent and knocked him out just 28 seconds into the fight. She also received an additional sum of $50,000 as a UFC bonus.
