Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena Result

Belal Muhammad entered UFC 315 as the UFC Welterweight Champion. One of the expectations heading into the event was that he’d utilize his supposedly stronger grappling arsenal to outwork striking savant Jack Della Maddalena. However, when the Octagon door closed, the two fighters primarily engaged in a striking contest.

There were moments when Muhammad attempted to take the fight to the mat, but Della Maddalena’s defensive and overall grappling skill set helped him consistently counter his foe’s exceptional grappling. On the feet, the Australian proved to be the more technical fighter and consistently landed precise and powerful strikes to chip away at Muhammad.

“Remember the Name” displayed resilience but repeatedly had his striking defense broken by Della Maddalena’s well-timed and refined striking. Muhammad tried to rally in rounds three and four, but the fifth and final round saw Della Maddalena seal the fight by landing multiple powerful strikes.

Ultimately, the judges scored the fight as a unanimous decision win for Della Maddalena, crowning him the new UFC Welterweight Champion.

The consensus is that Della Maddalena’s first welterweight title defense could come against UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev, who has hinted that he’ll move up in weight and dethrone the Australian.

Valentina Shevchenko vs. Manon Fiorot Result

Reigning UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko went up against what many deemed to be a challenging stylistic matchup for her. The MMA great fought France’s Manon Fiorot, a comparatively younger fighter who was well-rounded and appeared to have a size advantage over “Bullet.”

She was able to land precise strikes and seemed to break the challenger’s nose. For her part, “The Beast” showed tremendous grit and resilience, landing strikes of her own and mixing up her striking and grappling well.

The difference-maker appeared to be Shevchenko’s defensive prowess and the ability to land counter-strikes to break Fiorot’s rhythm. A key moment in the fight came in round four, where Shevchenko landed well-timed right hands that knocked her foe down.

Round five was another high-level chess match between the two, but Shevchenko’s speed and discipline in regard to defense helped her outpoint her foe.

The judges awarded a unanimous decision victory to Shevchenko, thereby ensuring that she retained the flyweight title. Presently, Natalia Silva and UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili are regarded as frontrunners for the next title shot against “Bullet.”
