MMA fans voiced their opinions after witnessing Tom Aspinall’s latest revelation about his much-anticipated fight with Jon Jones.
Aspinall, who has been calling Jones out for over a year now, announced that the UFC brass has asked him not to provide any updates related to this eagerly-awaited encounter. However, he promised that negotiations are underway.

Ever since he claimed the interim heavyweight belt at UFC 295 in Nov. 2023, Tom Aspinall has been calling Jon Jones out for a title unification bout. But the reigning undisputed Heavyweight Champion has kept avoiding his callouts, labeling him an undeserving contender on account of his resume.
Jones continued to neglect the offer to fight Aspinall even after the British heavyweight successfully defended his interim title against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.
However, “Bones'” UFC 309 octagon interview with Joe Rogan provided fans with some hope regarding the materialization of the fight with Aspinall. Jones implied that he might accept the offer to fight Aspinall if the UFC agrees to pay him his desired remuneration – an amount he preferred to call “F*** you money.”
There are rumors that he asked for $30 million from the promotion.
Following Jones’ comments, Aspinall provided several updates related to the encounter. He initially claimed that Jones’ team was the sole reason behind the delay in making the fight official, while the UFC and Aspinall were ready to announce the fight as soon as possible.
However, he shared a positive update after a meeting with Hunter Campbell during UFC London in March. He said he understood his position in the negotiation talks and is willing to wait it out.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, he disclosed that the UFC authorities had asked him to stay tight-lipped about his fight with Jones from now on. The Salford native said, “I know everyone wants fight news, but I do know what’s happening.”
“I have been sworn to secrecy for a little bit, so stay tuned… There will be news coming, hopefully very, very soon.”

Fans React to Tom Aspinall’s Situation
One of the fans compared Aspinall’s current situation to Michael Chandler’s, who was made to wait almost two years for a fight by Conor McGregor, although the showdown hasn’t materialized to date.

Several other fans expressed their frustration after learning about Aspinall being asked to stay silent by the UFC.
One said, “In other words, they’re no closer to a fight with Jones.” Another suspected, “It’s obviously not Jon if he can’t even hint at it.”
A third wrote, “It sure as s*it ain’t gonna be the Jones [fight] with the way he’s talking there.” One more tweeted, “Can tell from the tone of voice that it isn’t Jon Jones :(”
The comments from fans imply that they want Aspinall to fight none other than Jones next.
