Dillon Danis is a prominent name in the world of combat sports today — but not necessarily because of his fighting skills. The 31-year-old has only participated in two professional MMA bouts in his career. The two fights took place in April 2018 and June 2019, and Danis emerged victorious in both.
“El Jefe” has largely gained notoriety for his antics on social media and his association with Irish superstar Conor McGregor. Danis is known for engaging in trash talk with other fighters and consistently hurling insults at them online.
Eddie Hall Speaks About Possibly Fighting Dillon Danis
Former strongman Eddie Hall recently made his professional MMA debut on April 26. He faced off against Mariusz Pudzianowski at KSW 105. The event was held at Gliwice Arena in Gliwice, Poland.
Hall delivered an impressive performance, knocking out his opponent just 30 seconds into the fight.
After the event, the British media personality appeared on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” where he was asked about the possibility of fighting Danis next.
Hall shared that while he had heard rumors about the matchup, he personally was never part of any conversation to face Danis.
“Misfits [Boxing] mentioned this fight back in March. They said it was in talks, they said it was gonna happen, but the weight difference couldn’t make it,” Hall said. “I never got a part of that conversation, you know? So, they put this thing out on Instagram, saying it nearly happened. If it nearly happened, it was news to me because I was never a part of any conversation to fight Dillon Danis.”
Hall then made the case for how a clash between him and Danis could be appealing to fans. He ended by calling on various fight organizations to make the matchup a reality.
“I think that’s exactly what freak fighting is. Someone with zero experience coming in and fighting a world champion,” said Hall. “Dillon Danis may not be a good striker, but he’s one of, if not the best in the world, at jiu-jitsu. And you put a world champion jiu-jitsu [practitioner] against a 150 kg ex-World’s Strongest Man — what happens?”
“And I think that is entertainment. I think that is something people wanna see. So Misfits, KSW, whoever — make that fight happen. I want to rip Dillon Danis’ arms and legs off of his torso,” Hall continued.
"I want to rip Dillon Danis' arms and legs off of his torso."
