YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has often received criticism from the MMA community for his choice of opponents.
Ever since Jake Paul began his boxing career, MMA enthusiasts have dismissed him as a legitimate boxer, often criticizing his choice of opponents. He has built a reputation for creating controversial matchups, frequently taking on MMA fighters like Nate Diaz and Mike Perry, as well as long-retired boxers.
In his most recent bout against boxing legend Mike Tyson, Paul received heavy criticism from the boxing community due to their 31-year age gap. However, the fight generated significant viewership from fans. “The Problem Child” secured a comfortable, unanimous decision victory.
He has now received a taunting callout from former UFC fighter Sam Alvey.
Sam Alvey Roasts Jake Paul’s Opponent Picks in Hilarious Callout
Speaking with MMA Fighting, Sam Alvey, who is set to headline Karate Combat (KC) 54 against Tyrone Spong, was asked who he wants to face next.
Alvey expressed his desire to fight Paul in the pit. However, the MMA veteran didn’t stop there. With a touch of sarcasm, he explained why the social media star is unlikely to accept the challenge, jokingly breaking down what he believes are the criteria “The Problem Child” uses to choose his opponents.
“I want Jake Paul to come over Jake Paul, come fight me in the pit, you wimp. No, no, no, no,” Alvey said. “I’m not old enough or retired enough for him to want to fight me. Or small enough [laughs]. I’m too young. I’m too athletic. I’m too big, and I’m not retired. Those are his four qualifications for fighting somebody.”
Furthermore, Alvey expressed his love for MMA and shared his hope to build a lasting relationship with the Karate Combat promotion.
“I hope I’m done with MMA,” Alvey said. “I love MMA, but I hope I’m done with that. I hope Karate Combat and I can work together for long time to come.”
However, Alvey asserted that if he receives a huge offer from the UFC, he would go to Karate Combat and ask them to match it, or at least come close. He jokingly described it as the ideal situation.

“You know what would be great? If at the end of my contract, the UFC says, ‘Hey bajillion dollars to fight for us.’ And then I’ll go to Karate Combat and say, ‘Hey Karate Combat, UFC has offered me a bajillion. Would you offer me a bajillion, or how close to a bajillion could you get?’ That would be ideal.”
Meanwhile, Paul is scheduled to face former WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28 in Anaheim, California.
